Do you experience random reboots and/or freezes when doing an activity? If yes, please comment.

Hi All!

I've been reading countless comments about F7 watches (also other devices from the F7 series such as Epix, Enduro and Tactix) producing unexpected reboots and freezes. Unfortunately, this has been the case for many users since November 2024 and now it is end of January 2025. As far as I saw this happens while using different activities such as walking, hiking, running, track run, trail run, triathlon and the list goes on.

I witnessed how frustrating this could be as my wife was going through the same. I believe, we did all we could, even more. We did countless soft and hard resets, installed the same latest 19.41 production FW from the watch's developer menu, rolled back to FW 18.16 which appeared temporarily good then failed as well. After having spent so much time and energy, today my wife's loved Fenix 7s Sapphire Solar was taken to the Garmin official store in our location. After we shared all our experiences and explained in detail the actions we did the representative made no questions and exchanged the watch to a PRO model. The representative mentioned that he was not aware of any Pro models failing. Since the community have no official information I thought to create this post and I am asking you all facing reboots and/or freezes to provide the following information below in a comment. Perhaps this will reveal something useful that can be used by the Garmin folks.

1. Model of your device.

2. Software version (production or beta)

3. Short description of the circumstances (for ex.during track running, following a preloaded course while using hiking, etc.)

    I've had 2 reboots when doing a bike trip (with navigation and spotify)  then the day after I had a freeze during an interval activity it froze while telling to slow down during rest phase. 

    Also, it¨s a bit sluggish and the route directional lines are too small, hard time navigating.,   I have always something to listen to via bluetooth. It's difficult to do fast short intervals, watch is waaay behind

    3. Have this bug since more than a month. When doing a GPS activity (happened to both "Hiking" and "Running" activity with preloaded courses) the watch randomly crashes when the activity surpasses a time of 1-2 hours. At a random point then, it doesn't react and then crashes and restarts. After restart, the running activity is still active and can be continued without a problem (except the missing GPS data during the restart). It happens very frequently (like 50% of runs surpassing 90 minutes). I don't know if it is valuable information but I have the feeling that it happens more often while I use the map page.

    My fenix 7X solar sapphire has been constantly restarting since last November during activities: running, hiking, walking, cycling. Sometimes it even freezes. This is very annoying, the watch is unreliable.Disappointed

    i have tried the 17.xx, 18.16, 19.34-38, 19.41 and beta 20.10-12 software. It has restarted several times with each one. I have done a factory reset countless times. There is no improvement. I also do a soft reset on a daily basis.

    Yesterday I installed the 16.22 software, I tested it today, it didn't restart once during a nearly nine kilometer walk, and I tried starting a five kilometer run, then a 5 kilometer hike back and forth, and it didn't restart during any activity! This is encouraging, maybe the solution should be sought in the basics of this software due to the restarting of the fenix 7 series under the 19.41 sw.

    The circumstances where it's occured has been during a running activity, with course navigation (with voice prompts), with music (youtube music) playing. The watch restarts with the activity paused. I've noticed after the restart the voice prompts use a different voice to what I usually have selected.

    It's only happened once for me. While navigating on a Walking activity and I was well off course (intentionally).

    19.41 F7S Pro Solar.

    I also report random restarts while using maps and following a route (running activities). the restart is instantaneous, but very annoying because it remains in the pause screen once it is turned back on.
    I hope they resolve it soon.
