  • So is Fenix 7 pro and Epix pro, for which feature updates stopped.

Yep, which goes back to my assumption that:

Garmin have at times delivered new features to *current* devices in order to remain competitive, and very occasionally on devices one generation old for reasons only relevant to them - be it that they want to move old stock or perhaps address customer sentimen

I do not think that makes it right to mislead their customers.

Youre only misleading customers if you make a claim in your TOS, marketing or support and then fail to deliver on your own terms.

  • As expected, you label me as a problem while dismissing facts I stated.

Newsflash for you: I am not the cause of this thread existing or lack of feature updates - Garmin is.

  • As expected, you label me as a problem while dismissing facts I stated.

You're definitely not the problem and neither am I. We're just customers sharing sentiments. No ones right here. These are all just feelings and hunches.

Sorry, when I say "you're misleading customers", I mean "you" (the company) whoever that may be.

  • No ones right here. These are all just feelings and hunches.

Incorrect. People who raise facts are right. People who try to hide facts by finding excuses and trying to dilute the topic and dismiss facts are not right. At least in my eyes.

More importantly, this thread is not about hunches, it is about actual lack of feature updates.

  • I'm adding my voice to this. Absolutely furious. Just got my Fenix 7pro and now this? It feels like we've been completely abandoned. Garmin, this is NOT how you treat customers who invest in your premium products. If you don't reverse course and show some actual commitment to the Fenix 7, I'm selling mine and I'm done with Garmin forever. This is a massive betrayal, and I won't be recommending your products to anyone. Disgusted.

  • Incorrect. People who raise facts are right.

Feelings and hunches arent facts though and thats what we're dealing in this thread with unless someone can share a specific claim from Garmin about backporting features to older devices for a given period of time.

A fact would be "Garmin have claimed to provide full feature support for old devices for a period of 5 years following launch and they're clearly failing to execute on those claims with this Fenix 7 given it doesnt match the features of the Fenix 8"

  • this thread is not about hunches, it is about actual lack of feature updates.

This is a fact. And many others I raised in my posts.

Your feelings about it do not change facts.

  • The only fact here seems to be that you and a number of other customers are upset about not having their assumptions met. I hope we can both agree on that.

  • Wait, lets lay our facts out so that they're clear.

    • The Fenix 7 and 7 Pro have not received all features offered on the Fenix 8
    • Some (not all) people have developed an assumption that devices 1 or 2 generations old would continue to receive the majority, if not all of the features on the latest devices
    • Garmin have never made a claim that they will backport features to older devices

Feel free to correct me where I'm wrong.

  • I assume you're right about the facts. That can be true that Garmin didn't promise to add all new features to older watches. But, customers get loyal to a brand when their expectations are met. When Garmin adds new features to older Forerunner models (255, 955), but not the Fenix 7 Pro (their previous top watch), people get frustrated.

It's not about demanding every new feature. It's about feeling that a high-end watch gets treated fairly. This difference in updates makes people wonder if buying the most expensive Garmin is worth it.
