It sure is poor update. No logic whatsoever why some features are made for cheaper watches but not for Fenix 7/Epix.

Inefficient? To have separate groups of people working in parallel on separate products, even if they have commonalities. Sounds like Engineering 101. Otherwise is practical fantasy.

If those groups are synced, properly staffed and skilled, then then it is efficient.

However, since having those groups are not synced and they definitely do not inform each other about bugs that they found out resulting in one model's bugs being made for other watches as well, it is inefficient. I won't even go into resource and skill capacity of those groups, but their track record of resolving bugs in 2024 leaves a lot to be desired. Just look at how many software updates were released in 2024 for Fenix 7 and Epix with already reported bugs that should have been fixed before release. That should tell enough.

Another logic may be that people with less money (or more money, but having lower budget for sport watches) tend to not upgrade their watches even if their cheaper watches dont get all the features while people with more money (or more addicted to top watch line) will tend to upgrade their expensive watches if they feel they do not possess all the available features.

If this is the reason behind and neither different teams, nor chaos, it is a fair approach: the stupid/ the addicted have to pay, they are the base of the company’s high profit.
