  • interesting but the fact that past generation used a lower performant platform is key.

Since 2021 all families used the same CPU and most of the components are the same.

so Gamrin was able to provide us with "1 OS" for all series since years but continue with its old way of handling System. Regarding how many issues they have to manage, it will be a good solution to unified all capable platform and focus Dev/Engineer on system stability.

Features could be manage by product ID to active/deactivate themm.

And they could provide a way to stay on "old" release only for bugfix/security in best effort

  • The issue isn't that the Fenix 7 and 7+ aren't getting features, it's that they are bringing those features to watches older, cheaper, and less feature rich like the 255 and 965. I'm sure if Garmin wasn't adding these features to the x55 and x65 series this would not be a problem. But users who didn't want to fork out the money for Fenix 7+ but instead got a year plus old Forerunner 255 are getting these features. That is embarressting right now

  • You also don't seem to get that older, cheaper, lower end watches are getting features that the Fenix 7+ isn't.

  • It sure doesn't say much about the hardware group...why you wouldn't be updating the processor, gpu, and HR monitor on your brand new high end watch is beyond me, especially when your WHR and Sleep tracking seems permanently mid.

  • Must also say, huge disappointment. Been a Garmin user since Fenix 3 but this is ridiculous. In a time where competitors extent product support to 6+ years Garmin abandoned their flagship after less than two. Will be the last Fenix watch I bought. Important to share this information also with potential new buyers. 1000 USD + watch can really expect more

  • It was only one year Fenix 7 Pro was released in mid-2023, Fenix 8 in mid-2024

  • Chiming in here as a new Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire Solar customer - I wanted a smaller watch with the MIP display, and Garmin offered the perfect product. I thought it was new enough to be safe, especially given that the Forerunner is so much older.

It's a shame that if I paid a lot less for a lower-end product targeting a different customer, I would have gotten access to some features that I really want. I looked at the Forerunner 255, but I opted for a much higher-end product and got hurt. It doesn't make sense and really hurts my opinion of the brand - I'm considering returning the expensive watch and going for something cheaper if this is how the product strategy is going to look moving forward.

  • I wouldn't look at Garmin again

  • We are near to 20.xx Live Public release (ECG Beta version was announced yesterday) and no communication, feedback, explanations from Garmin...

As usual latest Bug Report were not take into account, so next public will be a beautiful user experience Hugging

  • No update for me and it says Ecg enabled. I have 7x Pro

    Typical Garmin Shrug
