No philips, calibrating your compass before every use is not what you should be doing... except if you are doing an activity once per week. Maybe, you have learned to live with this and that is fine. But…
It also happens with instinct 2’s…I sent back mine and got a 7x as I thought it was a design flaw specific to the instinct lineup. Apparently is not and it makes me extremely disappointed. Here is the link for reference forums.garmin.com/.../compass-sensor-affected-by-the-springbars

It is several degrees off most of the time... and sometimes way off. Re-calibration is a very short term fix. Even immediately after re-calibration it's sometimes precise and sometimes from 10-60 degrees off....
The issue is resolved with v9.33 software.
