Where to get a replacement battery for Fenix 6

With the annoucement of a disappointing and overly priced Fenix 8 range I have decided to keep my F6 Sapphire going for a few more years but realise that at some point I will need a new battery. In readiness I have started searching for a replacement battery but checking the usual chinese suppliers there does seem to be a vast descrepancy between supposedly compatible batteries from various sellers.

Given my past experiences with poor battery life on Garmin replacement devices I do not fancy going down that route again so if anyone knows where to find a battery please let me know.

  • Hopefully with fresh batteries I can get 3 more years out of it.

Hopefully it won't burn down at some point. The link shows a 3.7V battery.

This is the wrong voltage ! ! !

  • I'm not sure if F6 and F6 Pro share the same battery, but I've found a reddit post where user succesfully replaced F6Pro battery (it looks quite easy to be hones, I wouldn't have any problem doing it),and battery looks the same as in Fenix 5 Plus: https://old.reddit.com/r/GarminFenix/comments/1cjo44f/garmin_fenix_6_pro_battery_replaced/ (please disregard the replacement battery model in this reddit post, I don't think it's the right battery, is Li-Po instead of Li-Ion, voltage and capacity is different, etc. I linked the post only to show F6Pro insides :) )

F6Pro (and F5+) battery symbol is: 361-00097-00, there are Li-Ion replacements with proper voltage and proper capacity on aliexpress

  • Thanks for the details on the battery!

From experience 5Plus battery replacement: I could not find a source for the battery 361-00097-00 in the exact same form factor (rounded at one side). The replacements were all rectangular and had longer leads. This made them hard to fit, routing the leads properly without squishing anything was a real puzzle.

I ordered two batteries from Aliexpress, both arrived without any charge and were useless. Another was ordered locally and quite expensive, but had 60% charge at arrival and performed well.

I installed the new battery on a used backplate with dead battery from Aliexpress, then exchanged the backplate with the 5Plus so I could rollback the change. All in all I spent 120 Euro on parts and multiple weekends on tinkering. And then the 5Plus died and I paid Garmin somewhere around 200 euro for replacing it. Should have done that right away.

  • I replaced the battery on my 5+ twice.  the first battery was from aliexpress and the second from germany (chinese battery too).  Neither replacement was any better than the bad battery that I had in the first place so it was a waste of money.  the battery on my 6 Pro is now only lasting a week where I used to get almost 2 weeks from it.  I'm not sure yet if it is software draining the battery or the battery itself failing but I won't be wasting time putting a chinese battery in it.  Hopefully with the arrival of the Fenix 8 there should be some used Fenix 7's on the market at reasonable prices soon.

  • so were the replacements at least looking the same as original, the same specs? Or did you put something different in your watch

  • They were the same specs and had the same garmin part numbers.  Obviously not garmin originals

  • So what is the right voltage then?

  • I found a very confusing photo and description: battery 361-00097-00 (for 5 Plus) with printed 4.38 V on the battery and in the description 3.8 V. And the form factor is correct for the 5Plus.

Best to open the watch and check what is printed on the battery, part number and specifications.

  • fenix6 pro: 361-00097-00

  • So what is the right voltage then?

    3.8V Nominal Voltage
