why does summary after run sometimes only show Recovery but others Performance combo with vo2max ?

Is this a feature or a bug?

At some point, maybe during the beta program when they tinkered with the firstbeat algorithms so vo2max only increases a tiny amount per day, the summaries after a run usually only show recovery time in hours.

But other times it's like the old screen with the split vo2max and recovery time?

What does that indicate when it happens?

ah I see now the title of the dual one which happens rarely is "performance" so it's detecting some kind of effort, it's not LT and it's not threshold so I am not sure what

  • I mean but come on, using forecast data for a zip code which is then typically the airport weather and then trying to predict wind and gust affecting a running on a road with traffic or a trail with trees is absolutely ridiculous, why even try.

Stryd did wind power loss (or benefit) absolutely right. I am not even sure how they do it properly with the foot moving so much but there is a HUGE difference when I am running against traffic vs with traffic, it absolutely knows. Typically up to +3 or -3 watts (I don't trust the decimal, there's no way it's that accurate)

On very gusty days you can literally see it in the data even on the same road in the same direction in a straight line, you can see when you are fighting the bursts of wind

I don't see it graphed in Garmin Connect but I can see it in my own FIT file parser where Stryd records "air power" data.

It's literally the only reason why I use stryd anymore.

Garmin absolutely should duplicate that technology or just buy Stryd outright.

I'd even settle for Garmin natively, properly, supporting running power meters from any brand in their ecosystem.

But you know they'll never do that because right now it's a "not invented here" attitude.

Here's an example with 1km split averages but I can see the headwind power loss for any given second on a run, Garmin can't do that, yet.

  • Stryd did wind power loss (or benefit) absolutely right.

If the Stryd pod were not so expensive I would have bought one a long time ago. I keep thinking I could build such a thing for 20 euro in parts, it just would be big, impractical, and not integrate with anything. Small price to pay for being cheap :-)

  • Yeah stryd only does one sale annually and that's Black Friday. I caught it for the 2nd gen with wind and glad I did though $200 was a crazy price tag, I mean that's gets you a really nice watch otherwise

and the stryd software absolutely sucks

and they never ever update the firmware and there's no way it doesn't have bugs

Then everything went subscription, fortunately I still have the "pioneer" status.

And now the new model is way too expensive for anyone to casually adopt so their base never grows.

Garmin needs to make a new generation of footpod with wind, there's no way Stryd can hold a patent on that since airplanes have had those speed tubes for a century.

People would definitely spend $100 on a Garmin footpod with wind, they can throw the dynamics in there like the HRM-PRO and POD

What's odd is you never see stryd with wind used on ebay.
