Fenix 6 pro- after update : very slow flow and dont react immediately when pressing the buttons. Also, no heart puls longer neither oxygen measure.

Basically once great watch with many features turns out to be simple watch. If I cant fix this problem with no heart puls and no oxygen measure info then I don't see why I should keep this watch. No, the watch  is not longer in warranty  but nevertheless it is not an old watch and I was very happy using it but now I fell betrayed by Garmin. Looked everywhere for answers, many suggestions but I didn't managed to find solution. So, please if anyone have:

1.  step by step how to roll back to earlier version of software with link where to download all the files needed.

2. or even better WORKING solution how to fix the problems that I have

And once again shame on you Garmin for not taking this problem seriously because so many of us users are having this problem.

  • Do you use a custom watch face from the Connect IQ shop? If yes, choose one of the standard watch faces that were installed when you bought the watch. Then delete the CIQ watch face from the watch. At least with my watch, that fixes the problems with an ultra-slow UI (1 - 2 seconds between pressing the button and the result on the screen).

This is a known, long-standing error that is present in several of the newer software versions. Garmin is either unable to fix this error, does not care or does not want to fix.

  • Thanx I will try your suggestion, BuT what about no heart bits and no oxygen reading? I dont have them anymore after update. How do I get them back working again?

in the garmin betaforum you can find some more recent downloads for the fenix 6 pro. you can downgrade to version 26.00 (SystemBackdate_26.00 is in 26.79). it is important that you deactivate the automatic update in the clock!

    beta forum:

    https://forums.garmin.com/beta-program/fenix-6-series/f/announcement

    version 26.00 | 26.79

    https://forums.garmin.com/beta-program/fenix-6-series/f/announcement/349567/beta-version-26-79---side-load-available

instructions are available in the zip archive. here again:

    To update:
      1. Find the 'SystemUpdate_x.xx' folder and copy the "GUPDATE.GCD" file to the Garmin folder of your watch.
      2. Find the 'GPSUpdate_xx.xx' folder, copy the "006XXXX.GCD" file to the Garmin\RemoteSW folder of your watch.
      3. Disconnect and apply the update.

    To backdate:
      1. Find the 'SystemBackdate_X.XX' folder and copy the "GUPDATE.GCD" file to the Garmin folder of your watch.
      2. Then unplug and install. Your watch will begin the backdate process. Backdating software will revert your watch to factory default.
      3. After connecting your watch back to Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile, your watch will automatically search and download the correct GPS file.

Note: Garmin Express will sync over the file immediately, and Garmin Connect Mobile can take up to 24 hours to send the update.

  • Hi, first of all thanx for the links and instructions. I really appreciate it.  Since I habe no other solution I need to try to install earlier versions. Once again thank you

  • Hi, so I decided to try and install update and I downloaded v26.85 (Beta Version 26.85 - Side Load available - Announcements - Fenix 6/Enduro/Tactix Delta/Quatix 6/Marq - Garmin Forums)  the link you gave me. After unzipping the file I first got this message ( https://prnt.sc/oBjODryXeDBG )  adn I so the new folder. In the new folder that came up after unzipping the first one I found this folders anf file ( https://prnt.sc/Rknc6FxkSXAK )

In the READ ME file  there is instruction on how to do it. The first step in the instructions HOW TO  I could easily  find and do ( https://prnt.sc/pB83ihwzAJas)

Now the SECOND STEP: ( https://prnt.sc/p-9yPADfFRmn ) I cant find this folder in the STEP 2 instruction so that I can later copy the file.

Is something missing in the zip filed that I downloaded or am I just not seeing right?

no problem. i use 25.10 myself because indoor cycling causes problems with newer versions and courses.

you don't need the gps step. simply copy the GUPDATE.GCD [ 26.00 ] into the garmin directory of the watch. if you have a lot of data (gpx, fit ...) on the watch, the restart after the downgrade may take a while.

another question: are you sure that you have not accidentally deactivated HR and o2 with the power settings, for example? in this case, you could check the settings or simply try resetting the clock.

if your error was caused by version 26.85, it only makes sense to downgrade to version 26.82 or lower.

  • Hi again and of course thank you for trying to help me and my Fenix 6 pro. So before I try and install the same version as you 25.10 just to see if I can get HR and O2 to work again I just installed the latest update version 26.85. All wnt great.but still no HR and O2 working.

I guess I will try to install later today version 25.10 just to see, BUT where are the files? When I click on the link  https://prnt.sc/C-F5BkZJO5QD or https://prnt.sc/ABTePsXtqdAd I only see text on those pagesthat opens, no files to donwload or am I missing something? Here is the pages that am looking at https://prnt.sc/TYR39CArYXkD or https://prnt.sc/SAYbGeBbAjJc

I just dont see the files to download those earlier two versions. With the latest one I can se the files to download https://prnt.sc/K-XuYCW6RYzw

Now answer your question above: you said if I have perhaps accidentally deactivated HR and O2 with power settings. I dont think so, just checked. And I did even reset so that should do the trick.

The problem is I dont se the green light on the back flashing. And when I go in the setting and look for the Pulse OX reading I get this message on the display: Pulse oximeter  version mismatch. Uppdate software.

I bought this watch ased used one but everything worked. Now I cannot say for sure because I didnt check which software version was installed when I bought it,perhaps the guy had older version when he sold it to me. Also I dont remember if the problem first appeared when I connected the watch for the first time to garmin connect on my comp and perhaps the watch did an automatic update.

Once again thank you for replaying to my questions.

    Best regards,

    Miro

    hi Miro

no problem. i know problems with garmin from my own experience and the support and development is a disaster. i will definitely not buy the next hardware from garmin. probably some people feel the same way and some have already switched.

    Have you tried this:
    forums.garmin.com/.../1562795

I don't know if a downgrade will help you, have you already tried a downgrade to an earlier version?

you can only downgrade up to 26.00. garmin doesn't offer older versions online. you shouldn't get an error message with the zip. i didn't get one. you can maybe try a different pack programme. as i said, gps files are never actually included. you don't need them.

if required, I could upload the 25.10 to a one click hoster

  • Hi w01f,

thanx for answering. To be honest this is the first Garmin product that I have problem with. I have owned in the past Garmin 305 (I think it was 305), several GPS units with no problem what so ever.  But ,yes, I am going to think twice next time I considering buying Garmin product, at least when it comes to watches. So back to my problem:

I am starting to believe that it is a hardware issue now since I think I tried everything. The problem is I didn't drop the watch, been very gentle with it all the time, not throwing it on the table or so. That is way I thought it was software issue.

I will try the link you gave me later. wanted to answer you first. I understand now why I couldn't download v.25.10 so PLEASE if you could send it to me I would appreciate it a lot. My mail: [email protected]

And it is not only the missing HR and O2 what I noticed the same time when I lost HR and O2is abnormal long vibration with incoming notification for sms, mail etc. Its almost irritated.

    sorry for late response

    link:

    25.10 is in SystemBackdate_25.10

if i were you, i wouldn't give up so easily. you can usually fix problems with the firmware. in my entire life, i've only ever seen a smartphone go completely wrong after installing the wrong firmware.

have you tried garmin express and pc?
