Battery drain after 26.00

Automatically updated to version 26.00 mid week, now experiencing significant battery drain 2% per hour. Soft reset three times, no improvement. Charged to 100% yesterday at 2pm EST and now at 56%, at 11 EST … and only did a 5km run.

Before I could get 5-6 days per charger and that is with running 1 hour per day. Pulse OX always off, turned off ABC.

Looks like I’ll get 2 days per charge now … working perfect until 26.00

I am on 26.82 F6 Pro solar, no issues so far.  Bt on WiFi off, using gps for naigation, regular gym sessions, and getting good 10-14 days. During gym sessions my watch is my media device too.

  • Today I was in the pool and by magic now the battery is running out in less than 12 hours that!!! I loss of money to invest in these watches, money lost in my aviator to now in the 6x pro solar. I never spend my money again, it's the Garmin brand.

  • F6 Pro, in V26.0 software and never had battery problems. Also, I think that GPS accuracy is better now then in the previous versions.

  • Hi all, I'm this issue now. I haven't updated my watch for ages and now it on v26.00 and completely flaked out.  My battery has gone down 50% in 9 hours.    Is there any solution to this fault at all?

Disable pulse ox, disable bluetooth phone connection, you should get at least 20days. If not, most likely your battery is dead at this point, depends how old is your watch and how often you are charging it. Batteries shoud last 3-5 years or 8000-10000 charging cycles. Pulse ox using lots of power, if you dont need it turn it off, bluetooth are the same. I am running my watch like this, using it for music in the gym, using GPS also and still getting out over 20 days.

  • Hi!

No solutions so far. Issue still persists, and Garmin does not recognize it. I have contacted them many times, thorugh different channels (official tech service via email, online chat, Instagram direct messages) to Iberia branch and also to USA HQ. They transmitted me that there is no issue with V26.00 due to they have no official tickets opened by user claiming about this. Honestly speaking, and regarding many threads like this in this forum with many user reporting the same, I cannot believe. But I am cheking that Garmin is a dark company, all the time trying to hide information. Specially related to bugs, defects or issues.

Contacting with their tech team directly via email or web form, is the unique way for them to take it into real consieration, opening an internal engienring process to analize it and fix in case. So, considering the amount of people facing same issue here, I invite you to do the same, and open a ticket.
Let me advise you in advance that it is taking a long time. For each answer from official tech team, at least in Spain, it takes 6-7 days. It sounds incredible for a company like Garmin, but it is the reality.

So far, they have just proposed me to return the watch to their facilities for deeply analize. I am quite araid about this because I'd lose the control over the watch, and I have the feeling they have no idea about what is going on, and they just want to experiment with one piece.

  • Thanks for the comments. In my case, settings configured for a minimum consumption. Which means features like pulse OX or bluetooth disable, main screen without dynamic values to avoid constant refreshing, etc. As I mention, my watch got easily 14 days withoput any problem, and suddenly, after upldating to V26.00 (4 weeks ago), it dramatically reduced autonomy to less than 36-40hours. From one day to the other. It wasn't a period of constant deterioration like batteries usually do when they go bad. But rather like when a mobile company releases an update with a bug, which triggers battery consumption, and they end up correcting it with another update.

  • I have just read this- had the exact same experience just this morning, and nothing connecting either.

What is going on with these watches? It looks like everybody experiencing different issues.  On the production software it should not be this much different. I am running the latest beta, and only having minor issues like music player stops when i return to the watch face and my watch isn't connected to my phone.

  • Hi MaiK.

I formally raised this with Garmin on the 26 June. So other users have raised tickets with them. I even gave them permission to remotely log data from device.

I had a few days of engagement, but since then I've heard nothing, despite numerous chases.

I injured myself and took 3 months off with no recorded activities. Watch was used for little more than Steps and HRM and battery life didn't improve.

I removed almost all of my starred Strava Segments and turned off 'Popular Segment' syncing. This was after Garmin suggested it was a Strava issue. I disconnected the accounts, but that then impact on my safety beacon and other Edge functionality. I just thought less sync'ing caused by changing segment times could only be a good thing, once I reconnected

I've come to accept that 3 days of battery is the new normal and a v26.01 won't be released. I won't be in a rush to buy another Garmin watch.
