How do I stop automatic updates / MAJOR DRAIN (100% batt drain in a haf day and freezing software FW 25.00)

Hello,

I dont even wanna rant about garmin and FW 25.00 (but I will anyways). I think its the last nail in the coffin for me...

after update my watches started to:

freeze (i.e. I went to start activity and it took 40sec to get to choose activity menu...).
battery drained through the night completely - charged 100% in the evening (woke up with watch off)

I tried reboot, hard reboot, hard reset, factory reset, delete all activities...Accodring to forum posts FW 25.00 is major disaster for everybody... how could they release something like that. Its just plain unusable...

Anyways, I painstakingly managed to rollback to FW 24.10. But the watch is always prompting me that I have 30 seconds to cancel automatic update to 25.00 wthich I dont even want to hear about!

How do I stop this automatic updates for good?

On the watch, there is the possibility to deactivate the automatic updates in the menu - System - Software Update.

However, as soon as you connect the watch to the computer and start Garmin Express, the current update file is transferred to the watch. If you disconnect the watch from the computer, the watch gives you only 2 options. Install the firmware immediately, or "tonight".

You cannot prevent Express from copying the file to the watch. You can only delete the gupdate file before disconnecting.

However, It doesn't matter if you have disabled the "automatic update" option.

Express ignores it. So from my point of view this option is a useless option.

I have turned off automatic updates on the watch in settings menu. And thats what happened to me, It promted me to install update 25.00. I chose "install later" and then later (that day on random occasions) it started prompting me that "your update will be installed in 30 seconds" and it was counting down. And if Im not around or Im asleep it will go through... So you say theres no way to stop it? Perfect

What are the steps to revert to FW 24.1? (for me FW 25.0 works but battery life and watch responsiveness are significantly lower andI was happier with the previous FW)

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with firmware 25.00.

The update has been completely uneventful for me.
