VO2max and training status stuck for months, running suggestions way off

My VO2max has now been stuck to 62 since July, it doesn't move at all no matter how well (or bad) my running goes. The performance condition set during the runs may be anything between +10...-5, with averages well above 0 or under 0. The VO2max still won't change.

My training status has been "Maintaining" since August. The acute load has varied from ~500 to above 1000, it typically stays in the optimal range. Doesn't change the training status either.

The race prediction time corrected with the v23.10 also stay within 2 s (at least for the 5k). They now seem realistic and this is a huge improvement after the v23.00. I don't know if the race prediction times should move a little like they used to (I don't mean like 5min for 5k like they did with v23.00)?

The target pace and heart rate of the running suggestions have been way off since the v23.10. As an example, for a base running exercise my target pace is now 5:00 min/km and HR 140bpm. These values don't match at all. 5:00min/km is a recovery pace for me, my average HR for 5k a 5:00min/km is under 125bpm. The fast limit of the pace is 4:31 min/km, I can't remember the low limit. HR range is 126 to 151. Now if I run 10k at 4:31min/km (fast limit), my average HR is around 130. If I run at average HR 151 (upper limit) I go under 4:00min/km. In the earlier sw-versions these (target pace and HR) used to be close to each other and realistic. The target pace and HR haven't moved since I got v23.10, they are stuck as well. Due to this, the running suggestions are of no value to me anymore. They also don't stand for the load focus either.

  • I feel like it used to though. Like in the notes for the daily suggestion it would be like "Poor sleep last night. Take it easy. Rest or recovery run is suggested." Or at least I felt like you knew it used to use the sleep/recovery more. I celebrated my friend's bday last Friday, had too many drinks, and then Saturday it "suggested" me to run for 2 hours! Before this version, it never would have suggested that at all. The only "High Aerobic" workout I've gotten for the past 4 weeks is the same 10-minute warmup, 18-minute Threshold, and 10-minute cooldown. This used to be so much more varied, and I'd get like 2x a week!

And yes! My Anaerobic sprints never register as the main Training Focus as Anaerobic either. It's always tempo or base for me too. Anything above the 15-second sprints when it tells me to "recover" at a certain pace, is never registered as an Anaerobic workout. But I think that has to do with my HR not being able to recover fully between them. 25% of the time when it comes to the Anaerobic workouts I remember to switch the Training Goal to "HR" The sprints are still at a pace but warm-up and recovery is an HR targets. I'll have Anaerobic tomorrow since that's the pattern the Daily Suggestions have been following. I'll try and remember and see if I can get them to register as Anaerobic finally.

  • If you your VO2 Max is not updating and your Training Status has not changed in a long time based on your past experiences and the activities you are recording with your watch, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region.

  • Well, mine has been maintaining for a while but I have been doing hard cycling workout for the past 3 days. Today my status showed “strained”. And my hrv was low. So I guess something is working. I am running 23.10

  • Maybe the HRV affects the training status. My HRV has been balanced apart from maybe two nights when I've seen a couple milliseconds lower than the baseline. These have corrected the next night, so maybe that's why I don't see the HRV effecting the training status.

Checking on this made me find another issue with the Garmin Connect App. Going to the HRV Status screen through Training Status says "No data available" for the 7d graph and crashes the app Joy

I have been running with the watch only for couple of weeks as I only use it for pacing me for each km. Showing me the time and this is all the use I see for this paperweight now (I finally gave up...). Since the accuracy of the wrist HR is extremely poor (always registers super low HR), my acute load is low almost every day. Still no change in training status. I just don't care anymore. Using my own workouts.

  • I have similar problems with training status and HRV graph, it does not update.
Also the same as in the picture from the OP Load Focus stuck and nothing is updating there.
Also Recovery show "Almost recovered" when I have more than 12 hours to recover. Also Recovery Status stays in Recovery forever
Also Suggested Workout stays Base 23 min, and no matter what exercise I do, it won't go away
