Currently an issue with several of the Garmin x45 series, fenix 6, and vivoactive 4 watches
To be fair, I ran with my buddy who has the Fenix 5 at the weekend. His gps was fine, recorded everything perfectly, my Fenix 6 was so far out it was laughable. Whatever the issue is, Garmin aren’t being…
In the image on the right (below) you can see a typical GPS trace for my open water swim. I did 3 of the big loops (600m) and one of the small loop (250m). It's spot on. It's so accurate you can see where I swam around a line of casual breaststrokers.
On the left is Sunday's swim. The last few weeks have been similar. I've had to zoom right out to show where the GPS thinks I was swimming. The lake is that bit in the bottom left quadrant
It was the same with last night's run. At various places it shows me 1km away from where I was. After 11 years running I have a good sense for my pace and I'd say I was doing 5:15-5:20 every km. It had me everywhre from sub 4:00min kms to 6:30min kms. Overall it had the distance at 16kms on what I know from long experience to be a 16.5km route. So not too far out on that.
Settings same as I always use. 1 sec recording for the swim, smart for the run. GPS+GLONASS for both. Watch is 7 months old.
Has anyone experienced this?
Massive problem for loads of Garmin users;

Isn't it about time for another really helpful message telling us "The issue was resolved"......

I keep saying: I rode with a friend. SAME TIME, SAME RIDE. He has Fenix 6 and his GPS was fine. Some people with Fenix 6 have complained recently and Garmin replied to them. My guess is we're small fish cause this watch is "only" $500 and Fenix is $1000. Whatever...

Whatever the issue is, Garmin aren’t being very forthcoming about it and no news on a fix so I guess they aren’t too bothered about their customers regardless which product you have. Not really very good customer service.
We would appreciate if your comments made were more constructive. We would like our forums to be a place anyone and everyone can express their feelings but when they start to become personally attacking in nature, there are customers that won't come back to the forums despite how valuable of a resource our forums can be. Thank you.
