Add Fenix 6x Pro as trusted device

I have the same situation on my Fenix 6 Pro Solar but haven't found the solution so far.

Not much use to you but it works fine with my 6XPro and Pixel6 phone

My 6X Pro Solar is listed amongst the Bluetooth paired devices on my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and I'm using it as a trusted device. Have you installed the Garmin Connect Mobile app on the phone and paired the watch to the phone through the app?

Xiaomi phones cannot be configured as a trusted devices, I not remember the reason but i wasted a lot of time until discovered that cannot be configured.

This question is 3 months old, but may be relevant still.

I used my Fenix 6 Pro as a trusted device on a Samsung Galaxy A22 phone with Android 11 until yesterday when there was an Android security update (dated june 1 2022).

No issues with using the 6 Pro as a trusted device though, until this morning, when I had to reinstall Garmin Connect, paired the watch again from within Connect, and it is now no longer visible in the phone's Bluetooth devices list.

NRF Bluetooth scanner doesn't see the headphones or the Fenix 6 Pro (it used to). I think the security update limits the scope in which a Bluetooth device is visible. 

I can add a Fenix '1' as a trusted device when paired directly via the system, but it does not keep the phone unlocked. The only thing that works with smart lock is a pair of Bluetooth headphones.

So I guess it's a matter of avoiding re-pairing your device after receiving security updates on the phone.

nRF may not have been updated to be Android 12 compliant - it needs an additional bluetooth scanning permission.

Thanks for that suggestion! nRF on Android 11 does see devices, but only unpaired devices, and things like BLE beacons and temperature sensors that work in broadcast mode. But the phone being on Android 11 does not mean that the apps that use BLE are not already targeted at Android 12 though.

I'm not that knowledgeable about Bluetooth or Android, but apps not being allowed to listen in on Bluetooth conversations between a device and another device or app is essentially good. Spyware can also do that. And it's better for the privacy; for example I can't see what devices my co-workers bring in the office anymore. 

If I interpret the information by Garmin about Smart Lock correctly, 

EDIT, CORRECTION: the Fenix 6 Pro combined with the Samsung A22 Android 11 sec update 1 june 2022 is not compatible with that feature anymore.

I'm using a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, almost two years old, with the latest Android 12 and July security patch, installed a day or two ago.

Smart Lock continues to work with my 6X Pro Solar without a hiccup.

Good to hear, I'll wait for Android 12 on my device (if that ever arrives for it...). I won't ask you to remove and re-add your Fenix 6 to your phone to see if it still works after that.. but I am curious!

I suspect the new BT permission was added to Android 12 to aid Covid 19 contact detection rather than as a privacy measure
