Add Fenix 6x Pro as trusted device

Guys,

I'm trying to add my Fenix 6xPro as trusted device to Xiaomi phone, so I don't need to type in password when wearing the watch. The thing is that the watch does not appear in the Bluetooth list and respectively can't be added as trusted device. Anyone with the same issue and eventually solution?

  • I think this may be the new permission. I guess I first noticed it after the Android 12 update, but I have seen it requested by a couple of apps (e.g. Air quality monitoring devices) subsequently. It looks like it might have relevance for things like Smart Lock to work. Maybe it's Covid related, but seemingly not exclusively for that.

  • Makes sense. There is no Nearby Devices in the Permission Manager on the A22/Android 11, hopefully Android 12 will resolve this.

  • Found it! Removed Fenix 6 from my phone (un-pair), paired Fenix 6 to the other phone via device Bluetooth settings, removed Fenix 6 from the other phone, paired it on my phone, again via device Bluetooth settings, set it as a trusted device, and then added it to Garmin Connect.

  • My Fenix 6 Sapphire was not showing in my BT devices, but a random JBL 400BT-LE device was. I do not have JBL headphones, and I've never connected to any. I disconnected my watch through Connect and relinked it. The JBL device got updated to Fenix 6 in the BT menu and my secure devices list.

With the multitude of watch and Android updates, something probably got shifted and it was identifying as a different device. Just wanted to share my experience after looking to this post for help.

Thanks for sharing! My Fenix 5 Plus used to identify as headphones sometimes, and I forgot all about that. But it can happen with a Fenix 6 as well, obviously.
