How long would that take to report windsurf activity to fenix 6 ( from fenix 7 )

New in Garmin eco system I am quite surprised it takes sooooo long to report a custom activity, like windsurf, offered by fenix 7 and not yet visible in fenix 6X, not even mentionned in beta firmware.

Windsurf, or speed nautic, activity is not just a duplicate like gravel bike for bike, we needs specific calculated measures, nautic mile and not km, knots, VMax 2s, 10s, at least 500m and nautic mile, and some add successful jybe ( 180 turn around at a minimal speed, parameter, like 8 knots on foil for instance )

I am even suprised it is not yet provided by garmin for years on all devices.

I miss my Coros for that, Windsurf has been provided quickly. While available in fenix 7, still waiting that specific activity in fenix 6 :(

I wish Garmin be more devops oriented, with continuous delivery ;) ( Coros is great on that point )

Something that just came to mind looking at the forum - it might be that Garmin first has to increase the number of activity profile "slots" in the watch(currently max 60) which is at 58 profiles present in the watch as of today. If they add Wind&Kite surf then users will not be able to "add"(copy&edit) their own custom activities. So this might explain why only those 2 are not backported to F6 out of all the new profiles on F7.

What is wind surfing expected to track? Presumably HR and GPS and maybe even waves with a sensisble accelerometer algorithm

But the key variable (in both senses) seems to me to be wind speed and power / direction - how / is that tracked? That cannot be done autonomously by the watch - does it need an external source of wind speed data?

It's a little bit silly to see all those bike categories

MTB , ebike,emtb, cyclo-cross, gravel bike,bike commute,bike tour, road bike .......

I think the next activity that will add is:

Biking for work, biking for a drink, biking for fun, biking to church, biking to buy fruits, etc. With subcategories MTBing ,ebiking, EMTBking etc.

Looking at the changelog for beta 23.84 - Garmin added "Backcountry snowboard" activity, but still no Windsurf or Kiteboarding. Starting to lose any hope these will come natively to Fenix 6.

For all kiteboarding enthusiasts here - there is a promising application in CIQ: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/ca00d0a1-542c-40eb-9ba5-869c8308d865, that records not only GPS track but jump height as well! It is still in beta and I haven't has a chance to try it, but the reviews are quite positive initially.

Hi, I have Fenix 6 27.00 firmware... Still no windsurf activity... I opened a thread but I didn t find it.... Main frustration is to change twice sport category and type on websites Garmin connect and Strava. There is no Fenix 6 built in activity for general Nautic Sport ! all watersport activity have specifities / metrics that cant be copiable for generals sail activity. All commercial page of fenix6 pro mentioned windsurf activity excepted americain page et manuel. sad.
