even though the watch has plenty of free space, it still does not list all the maps names from the .img files on it. Note that all files are in the same directory and in the right format!

I think you are perhaps talking about the golf maps. They are not listed in the device map settings, but are installed in the Garmin folder.
Have downloaded the otm Lebanon and it is listed and visible on my F6xPS.
Have you already downloaded it again? Perhaps something went wrong with your first download?
Oh, then I should have said: Fenix 6 Pro model. So, not all maps are listed!
p.s. The forum's topic and title in which this thread exists is literally called "Fenix 6 Series" and not "Fenix 6 Pro Series"! Does the latter even exist as a separate tag/category/label on Garmin Forums?
Or is somebody playing the smart*** card all the time? ;)
So, Chris ... How "reputable" are these Garmin-Forums assistants/users on your scale?
Can you provide a screenshot of the 'Garmin' folder on your watch? Maybe we can find something that is wrong there.

It happened to me only with some of the Garmin native maps when during a map update process must have gone off. Then I deleted the files of the native maps, repeated the map update with G Express and everything was OK.
If you have problem with a custom map it may be the same sort of problem, during the map file (=img) creation some file corruption may have happened.
these maps guys:
https://garmin.opentopomap.org/asia/lebanon/otm-lebanon.zip
https://garmin.opentopomap.org/asia/egypt/otm-egypt.zip
p.s. yes. i unzipped them of course. same happens with other similar maps as those of Turkey.
Strange. Have you tried to pan the map to a location of one of these maps? Perhaps it is visible, but not listed in the map setting of the device? I assume, you have tried to enable them (but they are not listed), correct?
How can I enable them if they were not listed in the first place?!
