Fenix 6 receive no app notifications since latest Decmber update for Android 12

Hi,

Since I updated my phone (Pixel 4XL) yesterday to the latest Android 12 December update, my Fenix 6 does not receive app notification anymore. Before (on Android 12 also), everything was working perfectly. So, here is the summary since my Android 12 December update :

- My watch is working fine

- My watch can sync with Connect on my phone perfectly

- I still get phone notification on my watch (incoming calls)

- I still get sync notification on my watch (activity synched)

- Only the app notifications (GMail, Facebook, etc) stopped working.

I did go over all the settings everywhere and everything seems OK. I did restart both phone and watch and still no app notification... Any ideas?

  • hueys, yes.  As I mentioned i wiped everything clean and redid it from scratch.  That used to work back when it would randomly stop sending notifications, right after the S62 came out.  Everything is setup exactly correctly, notifications, etc. and this time a fresh install of both Connect and Garmin Golf apps did not work.  As saucier says, it connects to the phone just fine, everything works, except notifications.

    This happened immediately after I updated my Pixel Android 12 with the December update.  There's another thread on reddit about it: www.reddit.com/.../

  • Yes, I did validate that and made sure all the apps have notification enabled. Basically, everything worked fine just before I reboot my phone to apply the December update and it is not working since then. Nothing else changed on my end.

  • I tried to reset everything again and still the same. I now have 2 friends that updated to the December update and they have the same issues now. This is not a local issue for sure...

  • This sounds like an issue with Garmin Connect to me, not a Fenix 6 issue as GC is resposible for passing notifications.

    Try posting on the correct forum as likely other Connect users will have seen this if it started with Android 12

  • Same for me. I can delete device and add it again and app notifications start working again. It seems to be after either the phone or the fenix (5plus) goes into do not disturb mode overnight. In the morning notifications no longer coming through even though phone/watch out of DnD mode. All other interactions and syncing between phone and watch working. Pixel 4a(5g) running the December build of A12.

    Currently deleting and adding device each morning...

    We are looking into an issue with our Golf APP and Android 12 causing a notification issue on smartphones running Android 12.

    If you Golf with your Fenix watch and use the Android Golf APP, if you either remove the Golf APP or force stop it and the issue resolves itself, please let us know. Thank you!

    The issue is now resolved once you update the Android Golf APP to version 2.2.2.

  • Thanks Chris - this has worked on my Fenix 5 Plus. 

    Can we assume a fix will come soon? I am a Garmin Golf user and would like to remain so.

  • I'm sure something has been changed in the Android settings. I had a similar situation with the MIUI 10 firmware (it is based on Android) a year ago. Moreover, the problem was on different watches - Polar, Garmin FR645, 945, F 6 Pro. ONLY a return to the previous firmware of the MIUI 9 phone helped. Six months later, when MIUI 11 came out, I jumped to it - and everything became normal. You need to wait for a new update, and hope they fix the bug)

    Thanks, force stopping the Golf app seems to solve the issue on my end. However, like other pointed out, I would still like a fix for the Golf app as I use it (not now, playing in snow does not seems to work!).
