HIIT workouts only compatible with venu 2.. really??

I tried sending HIIT workouts to my Fenix 6X sapphire, but it shows incompatible. I did some research and found this:

Is this for real?? Garmin support, you ported the activity profile to the fenix series, but left out the ability to send workouts for that activity profile from connect app?? If this is the case, that would be, for lack of a better word, moronic.

Why did you create an activity profile and not have the watch compatible with said activity profile workouts in the app?? Am I missing something? Is there a workaround? Or is this really as dumb as it seems?

  • OMG you insane creature.

They acknowledge this currently doesn't work and they are working on getting it supported. Read the beta release notes!

It's labelled beta for a reason.

  • Without the ability to create and send workouts the HIIT activity is pretty much useless. It's not a deal breaker for me, since I bought the watch without HIIT support, but it does sound dumb to me.

Why add the activity type in the first place if it's gonna be half baked? It doesn't take much to add support in Garmin connect, might as well have released them together.

Also, calling people insane for criticizing a for profit company that sold them a product isn't smart, at all..

  • Also, since you mentioned the beta notes:

I see added support for activity and workouts, and I'm supposed to somehow know that it's not compatible with the watch?? Are their betas meant for oracles??

  • I just leave this here.

  • No but within the thread the error was discussed and garmin said they are working on that. But I agree, kind of a dumb failure from garmin. Should not be too hard i guess? We have to wait at least, tracking works fine, did it a few times.

  • It's BETA software. You have to manually download it and copy it onto your watch.

******* threads like this, mocking them for releasing a FW with a semi-complete feature will just encourage them to go "You know what? We're not gonna release betas anymore, people are too dense to understand it's a beta and they treat it like it's final, polished software"

So then there'll be no more beta releases and everyone will complain about THAT.

If it was final, production software pushed to the watch then I'd 100% agree this was a very dumb thing of Garmin to do.  But it's not. It's beta.  Stop treating it like it's meant to be 100% perfect.

  • Please Stop treating me as i complain. This is Not the Case.

I am 100% in your Side, it is Beta and the Error -at least for me- ist considered minor. In an Beta there can be Errors and This is totally ok, also for Errors which seem Kind of easy or how you want to describe it.

This is why i did Not complain and Said that we just have to wait a bit

    This ^

Beta's are meant for testing. Things may be broken/semi-functional/unfinished.

Thats' why it's a manual install. The point being it has minimal impact while they get the back-end part working.

The timescale from beta -> final is normally quite short so patience is very much a virtue here. Once the final is released, expect the backend to be there as well.

  • Beta is meant to test features, how would I test it if I can't create a workout and then load it on the watch??

No one's saying this is a deal-breaker, if it was we wouldn't have bought the watch when it didn't have that activity installed. Let me try making it simpler yet:

Why would you add an activity type in a firmware update, beta or otherwise, if that activity type isn't compatible with the watch in Garmin connect, with no possibility for a workaround?? I'm not gonna call it anything but literally insane.

I would understand a crash here or there, I would totally understand an unexpected error, but I can't use the damn thing in the first place. They're literally like giving you a car to test drive, but you have no way to start it. When a company does something that makes 0 sense whatsoever, I'm gonna call them out on that sorry.
