That was a specific issue that happened at the start of 2021. Garmin didn't just post that in reply to you, don't blatantly lie.
I use my Fenix 6 for running all the time, hundreds of runs recorded on it and never had any significant GPS issues even once. Distance is always consistent (within +/- 0.5% most days, or maybe 1% on the…
Nonsense. I’ve got a Fenix 6 Sapphire that’s a couple of weeks old now and it’s spot on. Why are you posting utter nonsense?
Black: Garmin Fenix 6X, 16.4 km
Red: Coros Vertix 2, 16.3 km
Some details for fenix:
... and for vertix:
So much more GPS points for the vertix, but overall the course looks pretty similar
Ok so you're in Belgium. What are your settings: GPS? GPS + Galileo? GPS + Glonass? is it set to smart or every second record? do you run through hilly or woody terrain? have you compared with other devices? Without any other comparisons you are just spouting nonsense. Also, GPS is only accurate to around +/- 50m and if you want to be pinpoint accurate then acquire a military GPS system. Stop whinging, read the reviews, and then buy the appropriate device.
> Also, GPS is only accurate to around +/- 50m...
No, this is no longer true. https://www.gps.gov/systems/gps/performance/accuracy/ ... For example, GPS-enabled smartphones are typically accurate to within a 4.9 m (16 ft.) radius under open sky (VIEW SOURCE AT ION.ORG). However, their accuracy worsens near buildings, bridges, and trees. ...
And even with light clouds and high humidity!
Also keep in mind that 4.9 metres circ is under perfect stationary conditions. Runners usually, well... move and are changing reception conditions every moment. So then it comes down to algorithmically filtering positions and "guess" what's right.
These errors may aggregate over time - you can see it sometimes if you return via the same route and have a sideshift of positions...
This looks like the Fenix is not set to record fixes every second in the settings.
Dallace: Where do you change this? I activated Ultratrac a few years ago but switched back since it was way to unprecise. I think I do have the minimal tracking interval actIve, but I may be wrong. It reads GPS+GLONASS. I'm pretty satisfied with the GPS and routing performance of the Fenix but maybe it can become even better... Thx
On spot.
You just said it: "under open sky".
I rarely run "under open sky", I do trail running, under dense forest. Never had special issues...Forerunner 110, Fenix 3, Fenix 5s, Vivoactive4 and now Fenix 6 pro.
Works as any NON perfect "running" watch.
settings/system/data recording
So, every watch is wrong? What is the correct value, after all?
Hum?
By any means, do you have the exact same configuration in all?
