LONG delay when connecting to HR chest strap on 19.20

I want to see if anyone (since 19.20) now has been experiencing long (apx 3 or 4min) delays when connecting to external HR chest straps.  I have two straps (Garmin and Polar) and they take apx 4min to connect.  I have tried everything.   Just wanted to know if this is the case for anyone else?

  • Slightly tangential advice, but Stryd recommend that you use ANT+ instead of Bluetooth and that you should pair the Bluetooth, but disable it so that you will not be prompted to connect it in the future. i.e. it is known by the watch, but deliberately ignored.

Maybe this would be worthwhile for other dual band sensors such as HR straps.

On my Polar straps ANT+ is on by default and the watch will never search for BT (unless you want it to). Never noticed any issues with my two Polar straps, had roughly a thousand acivities logged with those two on seven (five different models) Garmin watches. 735XT, VA3M, VA4, 2x645M and 2xF6X.

I use the OH1 and Verity Sense, OH1 got updated wiith ANT+ at the same time as the H10 via a firmware update since they use the same chipset. But the H10 has four channels; one ANT+, two BT and one analog at 5kHz.

  • is the 5 digit sensor the ANT, and the super long one the BT one?

    Yes.

HRM-Pro will default to Ant+, with Polar you'll have to select the one with five digits for Ant+ and leave the other one.

    .

I assumed it would "time out" after a period of non activity, but 30min later still shows connected.

HRM-Pro should disconnect after a few minutes, mine needs a heartbeat to stay connected and it also drops out after three minutes while constantly shaking it. Both my Polar straps are switched off by a button, I've never used the H10 myself.

I didn't notice this until now:

EDIT - FIXED!  The full factory reset that you listed fixed the problem.  NICE!  Still, wonder why this happened?  But, it looks like it connects and reconnects instantly again.

EDIT #2...  just did a 40min workout.  Finished, sat down for a few min.. and tried to connect again to the same strap... problem is back again.  so... no fix :-(   New watch on the way...

It's unclear which strap you're testing during your replies here, but have you tried removing the battery for a while? Check the rubber seal and replace the battery while you're at it.
