LONG delay when connecting to HR chest strap on 19.20

I want to see if anyone (since 19.20) now has been experiencing long (apx 3 or 4min) delays when connecting to external HR chest straps. I have two straps (Garmin and Polar) and they take apx 4min to connect. I have tried everything. Just wanted to know if this is the case for anyone else?

Never used a Marq but have you tried a master reset? Either via System/Reset on your watch or this method. If you do and wish to restore your settings afterwards, backup first.

HRM-Pro will default to Ant+, with Polar you'll have to select the one with five digits for Ant+ and leave the other one. If you already added it, delete it if you're going to use BT for headphones etc.

Thank you. Should I delete the BT listed one on the H10, if I only want to use ANT? or just leave both listed and the watch will always default to the ANT?

The watch should pick the last used connection, but I never keep the BT connection since I never use it.

Slightly tangential advice, but Stryd recommend that you use ANT+ instead of Bluetooth and that you should pair the Bluetooth, but disable it so that you will not be prompted to connect it in the future. i.e. it is known by the watch, but deliberately ignored.

Maybe this would be worthwhile for other dual band sensors such as HR straps.

So, to disable BT.. this is where I go to the settings menu and turn "Phone off". Correct?

No. I'm not suggesting to turn off Bluetooth. You need that for smartwatch functions and syncing.

In the sensors and accessories menu, if you have any sensors paired with Bluetooth that also have a pairing with ANT+ then disable the Bluetooth connection for that sensor.

For example, my TickR X and Stryd can transmit both ANT+ and Bluetooth. I don't want the Bluetooth connection to be used so I turn it off.

Same thing for Stryd.

AH! Okay, thank you! is the 5 digit sensor the ANT, and the super long one the BT one?

Okay, so I noticed something.. (I did as you said, and turned off the BT one, and leave the ANT one alone). Once I connect to the strap, and then remove it.. (I then set it down on a table behind my desk). I see that it still shows "connected" on my sensor menu, even tho I am not wearing it. I assumed it would "time out" after a period of non activity, but 30min later still shows connected.. unless I move FAR FAR away from where the strap is.. then, it disconnects.. but when I get close to the strap, it connects again.

Of course.. the solution is to remove the sensor from the strap itself.. but, this makes me wonder.. maybe this has something to do with it. This whole time, has this been draining my battery "connected" while I go about my day in the background? LOL.

The watch will try to maintain connection if you remain in the sensor menu or in any activity. If you go to the normal watch face then there is no reason for the watch to be connected. If the strap remains "awake" then that sounds like a problem with the strap, not the watch.

I'm not expert in these matters, but I think some straps can remain activated either through movement or if they remain damp, or maybe both. It may not be necessary for there to be a heart rate signal. For example, I laundered my HRM-PRO a few days ago and I noticed in GCM that it was connected whilst in the washing machine. If it's a Garmin strap then maybe it is being kept awake by be phone, if not the watch. Just spitballing ideas here. Maybe others can chime in.
