Battery issues after update 19.20

After updating my Fenix 6X to version 19.20, my battery is draining extremely fast. I took my watch off the charger at 0600 this morning with 100% and by 1400 it was already down to 70% charge. Before the update I would maybe be at 97%. I haven’t even used the device to track any activity, listen to music, and my pulse ox is turned off.

  • Same here, I am loosing my mind. My watch was drained in 90 minutes while running today, with previous firmwares I was just using %25 of the battery in 4 hours + HR band. Lost my fate in Garmin. I will sell my Fenix 6x pro as soon as it is fixed

  • We got new year, and still nothing is fix it in drain battery.

  • Hi guys, 6 days have passed since the release of the latest official firmware version (20.30).
Anyone who has already installed it, notice any improvements regarding battery consumption?
  • I did speak to Garmin support in the UK again yesterday and they informed me they are aware of the problem and still working on a fix. They added me to the ongoing case for updates, but before, made sure I qualified and asked loads of questions in relation to my watch and usage, what apps I use, what activities I do, if I have any custom watch faces, etc. once I answered the set list of around 20 questions, I was allowed to join the case for updates. I suggest everyone here does the same.

  • It sounds like you have followed the same process as me including the '20 questions' before they take you seriously.

Last I heard, we can still expect a fix.

I have been urging people to talk to Garmin for weeks but it seems to fall on deaf ears at times. I firrnly believe this issue will be sorted as the enhanced logging enabled on my watch literally shows what is happening in gory detail :)

I think once the F7 stuff dies down we will see a fix.

  • The cynical in me thinks that its all a ploy to get us to upgrade to the F7 LOL

  • Lol! they probably made the battery life bad so everyone starts to think maybe 6 days from the Epix isn't sooo bad... ;)

  • I thought that same a coue of days ago, where I should to write to get this 20 Q?

  • You will need to call Garmin support and explain there is an ongoing issue and point them to these posts, they then acknowledged the issue and proceeded to ask the 20 questions.

Personally I would e-mail with evidence in hand, not phone them. Much easier to show evidence of the issue. Interestingly they asked me unprompted whether 'the watch was draining in 3 or 4 days?' and then when it was yes to that, they sent me what was 20 questions / a checklist. And things have moved by beyond that now, with unprompted contact from the outdoor team who are following up and who have enabled additionally logging on my watch.

So the open case I believe is for the issue when you see approx 1.5% per hour drain just in watchface mode, or roughly using 25%+ per day without activities since 19.20 and ongoing into 20.x.

Some people have reported 20% drain per hour during activities which seems to be an unrelated issue.
