No matter where I am when I press the top right hand button to activate the GPS I get this error message.
Any Ideas?

Have you tried connecting it to GC via computer to get updated satalite positioning?...
Or you could leave it in the open for about 15mins with GPS active to get new positioning...
Is your CPE current…
I haven't connected ti device to my computer at all yet.
Go to the menu : System - Info. Scroll down with the down button to the page "CPE". If it does not say "current", you should sync…
As bluefish said, "safe position" is the default for the start button. So if you long-press your start button, the message that is appearing, is in fact what is supposed to happen.
I haven't assigned any hot keys. They are on factory default

I don't have and 'info' option under System.
but you have. No matter which FW you have. Press the "UP" key (middle left) for a long time. Then briefly UP again. Then it says SYSTEM. Then press the start button (top right) briefly. Then press the "UP" key again briefly. Then press the start button again.
Now you are in the info menu (device ID). Now scroll down with the "DOWN" key (bottom left). Scroll down until the screen "CPE" appears.
Sorry the watch is new and I'm still getting to grips with the way it works and its functions.
Yes. the CPE says current
CPE says current
That's good for now. The GPS signal will never be there IMMEDIATELY after starting the reception. Your published screenshot shows that your watch is waiting a little longer than usual for a signal. This may be due to the fact that your watch is new and has never acquired a GPS signal. But it also happens when the reception condition is just bad. Houses, trees and other obstacles influence the result. You should try the whole thing outdoors again. Put the clock in a place with a clear view to the sky. And wait. This can take several minutes, when the watch is looking for a signal for the first time.
