Firmware 16.60 - Fenix 6x Pro Solar Battery drain

So over the night my Fenix 6x Pro Solar auto updated to firmware 6.60.  I was excited, but when I went to bed my percentage was at about 58%, but then when I woke up it was at 30%.  In the last couple hours along with keeping the watch in the sun charging I have already dropped 2%.  I did a restart first thing this morning.

Not sure if others are experiencing this.

  • There is a small light in the tunnel, fingers crossed. I agree with you 100%. In case of problems during a long hike, I have already bought an additional GPS 66sr, of course, from GARMIN ;)

  • Strange i have it the other way around. Since the update my batery drainge has gone from 0.32% per hour to 0.19%

  • Hello everyone. As I mentioned before, I have Fenix 6x pro sapphire, firmware 16.60, and massive battery drainage. The battery lasts for four days max. and the previous three weeks. Soft and hard reset also reboot. and pairing sensors done multiple times without luck. Currently, the watch shows the software 16.60 and when connected to a pc on Garmin express shows 15.20. In addition, if I enter the menu long-press at 11 o'clock to see the submenu I see double icons as "find my mobile". And when I enter the setting, long press at 9 o'clock to set the icons, then I do not see that they are double and are in a different order. This is a clear indication that this is a software problem. it's not a problem with pairing, sensors, maps or widgets, and watch-faces that I don't use. Earlier, someone suggested to me that Garmin is doing a rollback to the previous version 15.20 and that everything will be ok, but unfortunately, it is not. Ladies and gentlemen, losing 50% of battery per day with one activity is not cool. Garmin please talk to this technician who produced this software to find a problem. Or send an old version that worked to everyone, e.g. 15.XX under the new name 17.00 and everyone will be delighted with the stable system.  And maybe some of you have solved this problem here, if so, I will be very grateful for the hints. The guy from Garmin's software will also be grateful ;)

  • There is a 16.70 beta for the Fenix 6 Pro/Solar that specifically mentions "Fixed issue causing intermittent excessive battery drain". It's available here https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=15159

I'm running it, seems ok to me, have a go and see what you think ? The zip file download also includes a 15.20 backdate file if you have problems.

  • Garmin already has a fix in a beta release 16.70 that seems have helped. I have only been testing for about a day but so far it seems better and I haven’t noticed any adverse effects. You can do a search in google for fenix 6x pro firmware. It should bring up a link for beta and released version.

  • Garmin Fenix 6 Pro

I installed the latest beta release (16.70) yesterday and restarted the watch afterwards.

Battery drain over night: 20% ...

  • I am sorry to say that, the 16.70 firmware did not make any difference on my 6x pro-Saphire. With three Ant + sensors and all the rest turned off consumes 22%/1h. Overnight 10% in power save mode. Only HR wrist on. Generally, 4 days max The watch does not respond to 16.70 and continues to show that it is 16.60. And the Garmin Express shows 15.20. I have already given up and I am waiting for another remote firmware update that will fix this mess after 16.60.

  • Have you tried to downgrade to the 15.20.

  • Also for those that have had bad results from the beta please email their beta support email so that they get your feedback.  [email protected]

  • Right now, no difference. I also tried a reboot. I copied the GUPDATE.GCD file from folder (System_Backdate_v1520 - link is above)  to the Garmin folder. The watch starts unchanged at 16.60, Does not go back to 15.20.
