Fenix 6 Pro + Polar H10

Been using a Polar H10 for a few years now and since owning the Fenix 6 (c18 months) have always allowed it to connect by default. Having been monitoring battery consumption recently I noticed the H10 is connected via Bluetooth, not ANT+. I’ve attempted to remove the sensor and re pair, but am never presented with an ANT+ option? Having searched the forum I’ve not come across anything where this is explicitly detailed?

I’ve also reset the H10 in the hope that would allow me the option but having checked in polar flow the only sensor option there is to open up dual Bluetooth channels (which I’ve done as I also pair with Apple TV when Zwifting). Don’t get me wrong, it works fine with Bluetooth when connect to the Fenix, however on a 3 hour run yesterday (H10 connected, glonass + gps, 1 sec recoding, optical hrm off, phone connection off) the battery dropped by 12%. This seems a little high based on the 36hr claims and I’m trying to gauge settings for a planned ultra so wondering if having the H10 connected via Bluetooth is the root cause and I’d see better battery performance from ANT+?

  • Hello guys,

I have a problem with my Fenix 6S sapphire and polar H10 working together in my last two activities. It seems like there are a lot of missing data from the H10, and the remaining data seems also not valid. (It was an easy run, so my HR was not even close to the 170 range)

Can I check somehow in the activity which HR sensor is shown in the statistics, the watch itself or the external?

I've used this combo (watch + sensor) since January 2022, and didn't see anything like this in my activities since.

I have no connection issues between the two devices. I'm using the latest firmware currently on the Fenix (21.0) and on the polar H10 the 3.1.1

  • Go to your Sensor menu and find the ANT ID of your H10

You can then parse the .FIT file of that activity and check for that ID to see if it is present. If its not. you used the inbuit HR sensor.

If you do not know how to do that. if you PM me the .FIT file I can do it for you.

  • Thanks for the advice, I can see in the FIT file, that the H10 is connected, it means that the default is this sensor in this case?

And there are missing data throughout the workout. I'll do some more analysis with data recording on the H10 as well to see if there is a sensor problem, or a data transfer problem.

  • Its possible your ,H10 battery is low.

In Polarbeat if you do the activity offline (saving to h10 memory) it will still transmit HR your Fenix via ANT. So you can dual record and see if the gaps occur in Polarbeat too.
