Saved Locations gone | "No Locations Saved"

Last week I noticed that all my "saved locations" (waypoints) are missing. Not sure when this issue started but my guess after 11.1 fw update.

Anyway. I tried this:

1) restart watch: still the same issue

2) sync with Garmin Express desktop app: still the same issue

3) sync with Garmin Explore mobile app (which was my preferred way to add/manage my waypoints): still the same issue

4) connect watch to computer & delete Lctns.fit file: still the same issue

5) delete Lctns.fit file & copy backup Lctns.fit file to /NewFiles: still the same issue

6) sync with Garmin Explore mobile app again: still the same issue and all my previous waypoints from Location that was synced with Fenix are now gone

7) save new location to watch (keyboard shortcut or quick menu):: still the same issue - watch behaves like my location was saved but the waypoint cannot be found anywhere...

....

so after trying all possibilities I am still stuck with that "No Locations Saved" message when trying to see my saved waypoints through navigation...

Thank you!

Any ideas how to fix that?

  • Yes, the file is 102 bites however even I replaced it with my old Lctns.fit file (4 months old backup) it did not load the saved locations and I am still stuck at “No saved locations” screen. I contacted Garmin support and they asked me to do hard reset (haven’t done it. Too annoying setting up everything again and again).

  • They had not recommended that to me, but I figured I should try that at least once.  For now the navigation is operational again.  Let's hope that it doesn't require resetting again and again like you've had.

I did find that most settings were easy to restore by copying from a backup all files of the SPORTS/ folder to NEWFILES/ and similarly the file in SETTINGS/ to NEWFILES/

I still had to adjust my watch face, do phone and wifi pairing, and select which sports apps to have on the watch, but at least the data screen settings of the various sports apps and all the VO2Max data and the like seem to be in perfect working order.

  • Hi! Two years later, I’m having this same issue with my new Epix Gen2.  Any better solution found than doing a hard reset?

Yesterday I worked in the Explore app renaming some waypoints, changing icons and assigning collections.  After syncing… “No locations saved”

  • Are the waypoints still in Explore, maybe in another collection than you expect? In that case you can switch over to that collection and then sync again.

It has happened to me so often with Express (because one collection becomes too big to sync, and then I start another) that I make file backups of Locations.fit every week.

  • I only have 8 collections with less than 40 waypoints each, and some few Activity tracks.  Last thing I did before I noticed this issue, was renaming some waypoints and changing some icons. Also I rearranged some collections. In total amount of information should still be the same.  I also tried synchronising only one collection, but the issue is still there.

  • The same problem for me on a quite new Fenix 7 solar. Not serious and also very DANGEROUS for a tool like Garmin, really disappointing

  • Strange that the latest update 13.22 landed today and still didn't fix No saved locations Disappointed on Fenix 7X solar saphire

  • Same problem here on an Epix gen 2 on firmware version 13.22.
