Saved Locations gone | "No Locations Saved"

Last week I noticed that all my "saved locations" (waypoints) are missing. Not sure when this issue started but my guess after 11.1 fw update.

Anyway. I tried this:

1) restart watch: still the same issue

2) sync with Garmin Express desktop app: still the same issue

3) sync with Garmin Explore mobile app (which was my preferred way to add/manage my waypoints): still the same issue

4) connect watch to computer & delete Lctns.fit file: still the same issue

5) delete Lctns.fit file & copy backup Lctns.fit file to /NewFiles: still the same issue

6) sync with Garmin Explore mobile app again: still the same issue and all my previous waypoints from Location that was synced with Fenix are now gone

7) save new location to watch (keyboard shortcut or quick menu):: still the same issue - watch behaves like my location was saved but the waypoint cannot be found anywhere...

....

so after trying all possibilities I am still stuck with that "No Locations Saved" message when trying to see my saved waypoints through navigation...

Thank you!

Any ideas how to fix that?

  • I guess you have "User Locations" set to "show" in the watches settings?...

  • Yes, of course. I was actually not talking about visibility on the map but visibility of my waypoints in the list of "Saved Locations" in navigation menu. Whenever I want to navigate to a "Saved Location"(=waypoint) it shows "No location saved" message. No matter what I do...seems like all saved locations are gonna and cannot be brought back or new cannot be created....

  • Ah I see.... so you can see all your saved locations on the watch map... but cannot see any while in in the navigation /saved locations menu.....looks like file corruption/something missing.. If you ring Garmin product support (send email first)...they'll go through it all with you... they can also send you a new Garmin folder for your watch etc... that's what I'd do anyway...

    Best of luck...

  • I have the exact same issue and tried most of the same tricks to no avail.  I have a useful collection, synced via explore, and none show on the map nor can be navigated to.  Even adding new locations directly on the watch fails.  Have you found any solution since you brought this up a week ago?

Also, could anyone else with recent firmware confirm that they can still save, see, and navigate to saved locations (waypoints)?

    thanks!

  • Have had it already a few times with different Explore app sw versions that a sync with the Explore app killed all my saved locations on my F6xPS and sometimes all saved locations in the Explore app were deleted to.

  • Had this issue of deleted locations with Explore on my Instinct and now Fenix.  I like the idea of Explore, but just doesn't work for me.  I use Basecamp to maintain my Waypoints.  Less convenient since you have to sync up using USB, but it always works.

  • I can see my saved locations in that section of the Navigation menu, and can navigate to them, even after the most recent update (Fenix 6X Pro Solar).

  • Thanks for check!  Time for me to reach out to support

  • Sorry, have been busy recently to open this forum. No, have not had found any solution. Will have to ask Garmin I think...

  • A quick update.  Garmin Support has been looking into this issue for the last few months.  The Expore app as well as the watch have received several software updates as well.  Unfortunately the issue remains for now.  Somehow the Lctns.fit file manages not to store any locations and stay empty (at 102 bytes).
