Should I wait for fenix 7 or go with 6? Thx

Should I wait for fenix 7 or go with 6? Thx When it usually the new watch come out?

  • Appreciate the guidance.. I have an Apple Watch Series 5 and it does everything for the most part that I need it do to. I will wait for a few more months until both Apple and Garmin come out with their new offerings.

  • Yep have the Series 5 Apple watch.. very different use cases b/w devices however its meeting most of my demands.. I am just getting back into running and will be doing some 5ks soon.. I can see using the Garmin features around training etc more down the road..

  • Buy now and use it. Even if there is new Fenix releases, expect another year of delay due to supply and delivery issue. By the time you receive that new Garmin 7, probably after 1 to 1.5 years. And by then, wait for new Garmin releases again? haha.

    Never ending new release/update cycle.

  • Why do you even ask ? This is a decision you have to take yourself. To many if here, Nobody know if it will ever be a fenix7 , but if you already are a Garmin user ,take a look at this forum. If you still want a fenix, go and buy the 6, after all it’s near functional now , despit it will never be 100%. Ask yourself if you really need all the things they have built in in the fenix 6, if yes, go and buy it. If no, buy a simpler watch more for your purposes. One thing is sure, you will never ever go clear of all the bugs in the software, and fenix 6 have been continious «updated». If you buy a 7 or whatever it will be, you start from the beginning with software, and in worst case it will take a year or more before it start to please you.

  • I bought a 6 pro used. No regrets. I don’t need most of its features but I love the maps - finally used it in a new country and did exactly what I’d hoped - guide me on runs in unfamiliar territory without needing to stop and consult phone.
I wouldn’t buy a new one personally, as it will undoubtedly come out this year and there’s a lot of 6’s on the market with people hedging their bets getting rid of theirs before the new model comes out.
hard to know what new features it will have but can’t think of anything else I’d need except mobile data.

  • I bought the FENIX 6 PRO X SOLAR EDITION TITANIUM 51MM for 599 EUR on Amazon. A good deal ?

Pretty much how I feel, too. I'm excited for Fenix 7, but all the same, my 6X already has most everything I could ever want. I'm mostly just hoping for bigger/better screen (but absolutely NOT amoled), 64gb+ storage, and more battery life. Solar Sapphire like the Tactix has, would be pretty neat too. And it will obviously have the new Elevate 4 sensor, of course.

Seems like a good deal to me!

  • Hi all I have the same question as above only now 9 months later. Still wait or pull the trigger. If I do pull the trigger it would be on the Tactix Delta now.

  • 9 months later, the answer is still the same. There's no clear answer for when Fenix 7 might come out, but most assumptions are that it's still 6+ months away. It historically follows the 9xx Forerunner release by about 6 months, and the 955 is still not out yet, and may not be out for months. The rumour mill is saying there's more likely going to be another 945 version out before that happens.

If you want a Tactix Delta, I'd say go ahead and pull the trigger now. The next Tactix is at least 12-24 months away. First the 955 needs to come (3+ months from now, my guess), then the Fenix 7 needs to come out (about 6 months after that) and then the next Tactix will finally come about 12 months after that. And it's even possible we'll need to see a new Marq hit the shelves before ANY of that even happens, since Marq historically precedes even the 9XX by a few months.

I'm honestly considering upgrading my 6X Sapphire to a Delta Solar soon because, even though I want a Fenix 7, I'm tired of waiting and there's zero indication that anything is coming any time soon.

When it comes to Garmin, waiting for the next thing to come along is rarely a winning strategy. Look at the folks who started this thread - if they decided to wait for Fenix 7, then here they are 9 months later, still waiting, with still no Fenix 7 on the horizon. Meanwhile, they could've been enjoying a Fenix 6 for the last 9 months. People are used to companies like Apple and Google who put out a new version of every product every 6-12 months like clockwork, but Garmin just doesn't work like that; there is often anywhere from 2 to 4+ years between product generations. And they are famously tight-lipped about future product releases - we usually don't know when they're coming until the day they get released for sale. Occasionally there's a leak a couple days beforehand, but there's almost never any information before that.

  • two years is the minimum that could be expected between the release of the old and the new model. but - under normal conditions. currently the conditions are not normal. I'm talking about covid-19, and about the fact that hackers blocked Garmin servers. this definitely influenced the development of the new model. for the worse.

under normal conditions one would expect a new model in the summer of 2021. but in the current conditions I would dream of summer 22, while summer 23 is more real
