Should I wait for fenix 7 or go with 6? Thx

Yes, Quatix 6 has open water swimming and indoor swimming, same as Fenix 6 Pro

I bought a 6 pro recently but I really wanted to see the 7 come out first as it’s getting very close and so I know support for mine will diminish pretty quickly. If I didn’t ‘need’ it right now I would definitely have waited. 

I’ll only be really disappointed if it has cellular as that’s the only feature I know I want (there will of course be others garmin will try and convince me I need - that’s their business model).

Not quite true. Updates are still being provided for the 935 - the latest being just over 1 month ago.

Ah ok. I’m not sure how old that model is. I just assumed the emphasis would move to the latest model. So do garmin still update features or is it bug fixes once not current?

The emphasis will always move to newer models but that does not mean older models are totally neglected. Obviously new features will not be added forever but bug fixes continue longer. 

Same conundrum. Some estimates say new 7 will be out in a few months. I am thinking of waiting then again everything is delayed due to COVID so having other thoughts...

Well, if the original person who posted this thread chose to "wait for Fenix 7", then that means they've spent the last 8 months waiting, and they're still waiting, with no ETA in sight.

Which supports what I've always said - if you don't have an activity tracking watch currently, then you should buy the watch today that's available today. Don't be the guy who waits 8+ months, missing out on that many months of enjoyment with it.

If you already have a fitness tracking watch, then by all means, go ahead and keep waiting for Fenix 7 if you want.
