fenix 6x uber fast battery drain

Just updated my fenix through Garmin Express and no battery drains in about 24 hours!  Anyone else experiencing this?  Not running anything special other than bluetooth to my phone and syncing with my Garmin Edge (cycling).  I am guessing it is a software glitch???  Any ideas?

Thanks, Neil

  • Yes!  My watch is almost unusable as a result.  I did a 6 mile hike this morning and my battery went from 100% to 11%.   Crazy.  I have done a soft reset, hard reset and deleted the file that people suggested.  Still messed up.  Also, the clock is off now and that has never happened before.

  • Yeah im after having a large battery drain there also. My watch was about 12+ days left on the charge yet when i woke up this morning it was on 2!! didnt have pulse ox on or anything either so should have just been normal usage. 1st time this has happened. Ive reset the watch and am charging it. Will monitor the battery over the next few days to see is there still an issue

  • In the last week or more I have noticed the battery is draining exceptionally quick. In this time I know Andriod was updated, but think fenix software as well. I have fenix 6x pro saphire and andrio version 10 Build GPA1A.190711 .020.N960FXXS8FUB1, kernel version 4.9.118-19869079

  • So having got my refurbished Fenix 6X Sapphire I can report the following, it has been going for 18 days and still has 15% battery left.

    My settings are as below:

No pulse oxygen, no wifi, bluetooth on and notifications enabled, sleep mode during so not disturb from 10pm to 6am. All other settings as per factory and using a factory digital display face.

Activity wise over the period I recorded 18 activities, about half of which would have been using the GPS. Activities included walking, cycling and cardio.

I never got this much battery even when new from the other one, so in reality you should be getting 20 days between charges. So if you battery is going, as mine was in a matter of 2 days of so, then you need to get onto Garmin open a case and get a refurbished model. I believe there is an issue with the battery rather than just a software problem.
