fenix 6x uber fast battery drain

Just updated my fenix through Garmin Express and no battery drains in about 24 hours!  Anyone else experiencing this?  Not running anything special other than bluetooth to my phone and syncing with my Garmin Edge (cycling).  I am guessing it is a software glitch???  Any ideas?

Thanks, Neil

  • Definitely something going on...Garmin would not sync with my phone after multiple tries finally on the 8th or 9th try and different avenues it finally synced... Shrug

Monitoring the battery drainage seems to be slower than the 24-hour 100% drain it was a few days ago... But certainly not what it was a week ago when it would take 10 to 12 days to drain...

  • Hi there, any update? is it back to normal? I have the same issue. And tried a couple of time reboot. Doesn't work. Thanks!

  • Is anyone actually working for Garmin even reading these forums and cares to say anything?

Probably not - it's fairly rare that they comment directly. If you're running a beta, email the beta team (see address in the pinned post at the top of the forum).

I'm seeing battery drain in low power mode about 50% higher than usual at the moment, with the beta/RC firmwares post 10.10 - somewhere in there they say they improved BT connectivity, but that seems to be coming at a cost.

With my typical usage on my F6X, I'd expect to go from 100 to 40% in 7 days, and now it's more like 100 to 30% in 6 days, and about 3% per day is on activities, so the low power drain is much higher.

Unlike Thanhauser, I see the drain dropping if I turn BT off, and unlike pear235, the drain during activities isn't very different (2-3%/hour, depending on things like whether I've got the navigation map displayed following a course).

Not only have I hard reset it, I've completely set it back to factory settings, with the result that I'm not getting sleep tracking in Connect any more.

  • Yeah I don't know what the f***** going on... After a reset of the settings it was working fairly well (other than that it took me about eight tries to sync with my phone) with about 8 to 10% batShrugy drain per day... I checked early this morning I had 55% battery remaining and then about 3 hours later it is now down to 3%... It has to be a software if somewhere!!!Shrug

  • I noticed that in the Power Management profiles (Main menu --> Power Management --> Power modes) the estimated duration is now way lower than what I remember (the Max power profile is now 120 hours, 56 hours with my Custom profile, although it was usually several days), and way lower than the actual estimated duration i get next to the battery gauge with a full charge (16 days with full charge with my Custom profile.)

Would somebody please if that is the case with their watch too, and if somebody that happens to not have the problem happen to read this, would you mind to share that info (Max Power estimated duration) so we can compare, please?

  • My watch just died... I'll have to give it a little charge and I will check into the power mode numbers...

  • fully charged at 10am, now  (1pm) it is only 95%. 3 hours drained 5%, which normally takes 2 days.

  • Thanhauser, I think the durations next to the battery gauge are in low power mode, the profile estimates are while recording an activity. So those numbers are sensible...

  • Thanks for your answer ;) However, please note that when I talk about profile estimates I am not talking about activity profiles (Running, Biking), but the Power Management profiles, where you can choose to turn off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HR tracking, use Ultratac,  etc. And from what I remember those were similar to those next to the battery gauge.

  • I've been a little skeptical of the "battery drainer complainer". :)

But here I am with 10-15% per day without activities on my 6xPro Solar.

    Following....
