WiFi Issues - update 10.10

Dears,

After upgrading to 10.10, my Fenix 6 stopped connect to the WiFi network.

I then deleted the network, and tried to add it again, but now it remains searching for the network, without finding it.

If I manually add the network in the Garmin express, does not connect.

Anyone else with the same problem?

WiFi: 2.60

  • No, nothing.  Still can't find any wi-fi networks.  Garmin "support' just point you towards the setup page. Complete waste of time.  They seem to be ignoring the problem.

  • They have had some serious problemes with wifi for many years. Time to fix this..., im sending mine in for "repair".

  • Same... Don't work.

    We're alone. Garmin forgotten us.

  • Just received a wi-fi update on the watch. FINALY it would work? No, it did not.

  • N e v e r e n d i n g story.

So I find the Wi-Fi, can add it to watch. Test connection. Open Spotify to sync my playlist and then it says "Internal Wi-Fi error" and I'm back at square one. Can't find a single wifi... Grimacing

Ok so I just got it to work. My problem has been like yours. 2.60 Wi-Fi version.

    1. Contacted support and they told me to soft reset it, hold power button for at least 30 sec. Did that while watch was connected to PC via USB and Garmin Express running. That did absolutely nothing to help with the issue.

    2. Then all of the sudden I received an Wi-Fi update. (disconnected from PC but connected to Garmin app) So it downloads and says installed or whatever confirmation  there was. But still can't find any Wi-Fi at all.

    3. Then I went into System->Software Update. Auto update is ON but there is also the option "Available update". So clicked it and it starts to update the Wi-Fi firmware (again?) , restarted the watch and went into the Garmin app on my phone, add Wi-Fi and it worked!

    Wi-Fi version still says 2.60.

I left my device ID to that support lady, don't know if she pushed some Wi-Fi update to my device or if everyone got it today.

    Good luck!

  • Sent it in to Garmin and got it back within 7 days. Wifi work but firmware says 9.30. Wifi is 2.60. Should I go ahead and update to latest firmware? Anyone tried after getting watch back from repair?

  • Unless you plan to stay on 9.30 forever you might as well get on with updating the watch and find out the worst while you still have warranty.

FWIW I've had my 6X Pro Solar for 11 months and never had a Wi-Fi connectivity problem with any of the beta or final firmware versions from 5.00 to 12.20. I just tried a Wi-Fi search from my watch and it found three alternative networks other than my own, one open and two secure.

I might add that right now I'm running a Netgear Orbi system with one router, two satellites and smart switching with the same SSID for both 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands. Prior to that I was using an Asus gaming router with separate SSIDs. Either way, it always works.

The only tip I can offer is to keep your Wi-Fi password to alphanumeric characters only, without special characters. That might be part of the solution, but maybe not. It's worth a shot though if all else fails.

  • My problem was that it only searched for wifi in less than a second. So did not find anything. I'll try and update it, to many bugs in this old firmware Blush
