No sleep detected Firmware 10.10 - Sleep Data Disappears from Widget or Does Not Appear in Garmin Connect

This seemed to be a problem in the earlier on device sleep beta versions but had not seen it in more than a week. Today sleep detection worked and showed, admittedly strange, sleep feedback (seems to say that 1.5 hours of REM is adequate while 3 hours the previous day is inadequate...??).

Went for a run and when I got back the sleep data had disappeared and in its place on the widget I have “No Sleep Data Recorded”.

Anyone else also still getting this occasionally after the device showing sleep in the morning?

  • Same for me fenix 6 pro on firmware 15.20 and sensor hub is 8.00

Sleep data only appears after recording another activity first. Even then it doesn't always record movement, pulse ox or respiration data during sleep. A bit disappointed to find this is an issue that has gone on for so long and Garmin hasn't fixed it.

  • Could be a coincidence but since i added the sleep widget it seems to be tracking my sleep now.

  • The sleep widget only shows data for me after recording an additional activity, and again didn’t record movement, oxygen or respiration. Hopefully it will get fixed at some point.

  • i just purchased my 6x pro solar, sleep tracking worked for 3 nights then sleep tracking disappeared now shows no data also tried everything that has been posted no worky, any help from garmin?? very disappointed in a very expensive fitness tracker watch $1000 wrist candy

  • Still very much experiencing awake times ranging from 1 to 3 hours when I had an uninterrupted sleep session despite reporting the issue many times and upgraded software 2 or 3 official versions. Still persists :( Garmin please look into imroving sleep detection .. It's the only subpar feature compared to the competition!

  • I've got an Fenix 6 Saphire about two weeks ago (Firmware 15.20) and so far everything seems fine, except sleep tracking. I have installed the widget, opened it a few times and it always shows "No sleep data recorded".

  • Adding to the endless thread about sleep tracking not working.  Seems like the issue has remained unfixed for 12 months or so through multiple software updates.  Pretty disappointed in my 3rd Garmin watch.  Additionally, loss of HR tracking at random times during the day seems far more prevalent than with the 5x and 245.   My firmware is 16.70 - I think the first post about this problem was on version 10 - pretty crappy effort by Garmin.

  • On 16.7 and sleep tracking works fine, and no issues with HR.

HR issues - sounds like you either have power management profiles switching off HR, and or you are wearing your watch too loose, or there is a technical fault with the watch.

Sleep tracking - if you are having technical issues with HR  that may drive your sleep tracking issue, as its mainly based off HR readings. Would also make sure that you don't have a setting that is disabling sleep tracking i.e. if you use a power management profile like I do when i go to sleep i.e. the battery saver profile, you have to ensure that activity tracking and HR are enabled otherwise it can't track sleep.

If after all of that you still have an issue would suggest speaking to Garmin directly.

  • My Fenix seems to do better with 16.70 when it comes to sleep tracking. However it does not work every night and I still have not figured out it doesn't work reliably.

  • what time have you set as your starting bedtime? If you go to bed before that then it may not pick it up. So you need to make sure that setting is before you usually go to bed. But don't make it too much before hand otherwise if you are watching TV and don't move around it may decide you are light sleeping (had it happen the other night, and now am much more aware to move occasionally so it doesn't trigger sleep recording). Fortunately it only started 30mins before I went to bed, but was surprised to see the wake detail until I checked start time and realized what had occurred.

Never had an issue by doing it this way with the Suunto 7 or the Fenix 6 (both use the same firstbeat sleep tracking).
