Quatix 6x Solar vs Fenis 6x Solar

Hi I am about to purchase a Quatix 6x solar titanium. I looked at all the comparisons online and would like to understand the following

1) Is the Fenix 6x hardware the same as the quatix 6x. i note on the garmin website it shows standard bluetooth for quatix but fenix shows bluetooth smart. I think this is an error because even quatix 5 had bluetooth smart.

2) Is the only difference of the quatix the fact there are specific apps. In essence I can make the quatix into a fenix and a fenix into a quatix based on apps alone

3) can the quatix 6x be updated with the fenix 6x firmware

Fenix 6x solar titanium is only sold through an agent in australia and I would prefer to buy through garmin because I get a discount. My assessment is that quatix and fenix are the same watches and only the apps/ profiles and watch face is different which can all be removed or placed on the watch anytime.

Can anyone confirm some or all of the above.

    Yes, it can be. The German Garmin site says also something wrong about an f6x model

    To close this out I received a quatix 6x titanium with vented bracelet and a fenix 6x pro solar in Carbon DLC with black silicon strap. Visually the silver titanium is overpowering on the wrist and just stands out.  If you like that then that is for you but if you want a more seamless look then the DLC Fenix carbon gray looks much better for me at least. Each to their own.  More importantly there is no real difference between the two watches. I can remove or add or change apps, data, watch faces. functionality is the same. The quatix is a skin for a fenix.  So when it comes down to looks, resale and given they are all the same retail price. I kept the fenix and sent back the quatix.

    I think when it comes to resale, you will get a better price for the fenix models than for the "exotic" ones like Quatix or tactix. Even if they have the same inner. At least you will definitely be able to sell them faster.

    Aside from the bad vertical lines, you can get an idea of the difference between them here.

    My Opinion:

    The Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar is an amazing (slightly over the top) multisport watch.

    The Garmin Quatix 6X Solar is just a really fancy, amazing (slightly over the top) Sailing watch with some multisport functions.

    They appear nearly the same, but the Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar is more multisport focused.

    Also, Solar basically just gives it a battery increase by about 10 days, you decide if the extra $200 or so is worth it.

    This is just a chart showing the differences (i.e: what the other watch doesn't SPECIFICALLY have.)
    So, if you just look at one Specs sheet on the Garmin site, then here at the other watch, you can see the differences without having to decode them.

    You can configure to show differences only and basically the only difference are the boating apps all of which can be downloaded, though screenshots of apps on quatix page look slightly different from connect IQ store, also bluechart g3 maps are compatible with fenix 6 line.  For some reason swimming and cycling on fenix is not available on quatix, not sure if you can download those, but further down quatix page it says all features of fenix 6 are available on quatix!

    Its just down to price and looks so its not clear why quatix is £150 more tbh but i would like to know if there is a reason other than marketing or whether app configuration is maybe built into rom so faster, otherwise no idea viz last point.

    I wish they offered the solar version with a sapphire face. Not sure why they don’t. Citizen has their solar-powered eco-drive available with sapphire.  Come on @Garmin - make one and I’ll buy it!
