Fenix 6 Pro and Basecamp

Hi guys, I’m facing some problems with my new fenix 6 Pro and BaseCamp. I really hope someone will be able to help me out because I’m literally getting crazy. I connected my fenix to the PC, I ran BaseCamp and all the maps have been downloaded. The problem is that when I try to navigate in such maps, it is very slow and gets stuck very often, it also takes a long time to zoom, search, etc. I also tried to download some open maps such as the freizeitkarte or the openmtbmaps and both of them work very fast! The problem is only with the original Garmin maps, the topo ones, sky, courses, etc. Any suggestions to solve this problem? Thanks guys!

Problems with slow performance have been widely reported since the latest release of TopoActive continental maps and Golf maps. Much discussion on the topic here....

Actually I do not have any problem with the map itself running on the watch, I only have problems with the Original Garmin maps on BaseCamp.

Yeah, because Basecamp is loading the maps off the watch in real time, it's bloody slow. I think, note think, you can copy the IMG's off the watch and put them in Basecamp's maps folder. I did it with Topo Light and it worked for me.

To be honest Basecamp is more optimised to copying maps TO the watch than reading them from it. So I use the copied TopoLight, as well as some other OSM maps, to plan routes than upload to the watch

I've never had success placing map files on my hard drive. I have copied the files from watch to SD card, which sits in the laptop and Basecamp uses them from there. Pretty fast after the initial load/scan/index/cache or whatever goes on in BC.

Ah yes, should have pointed out that like you, I have my maps folder on an SD card. Thanks for pointing that out, good call!

Got it, so I don’t have to copy the maps from the watch to the Maps folder on BaseCamp, but from the watch to a SD card? Right? Thanks!

Yep try that. It worked for my TopoLight map, but I'm not sure about the others. As I really only use BC for the occasional route, and as I use TopoLight for contours, that's all I bothered to do :)
