GPS Data and built in max speed widget is irrelevant

I'm using my fenix6 while windsurfing to record my sessions, since there are no windsurf specific built in app, had to create my own with built in ones by copying from OTHER template. No problems on recorded data so far afaik but when I export my gpx to my desktop and examine with GPSResultsv6, I see VERY different results in GPS data than I saw on watch + Garmin Connect. Also validated data in gps-speedsurfing. Attached the gpx file..

Here are the screen shots..

- Shot from GPSResultsv6 when selected max 2 secs display with max speed

Built in Max speed widget is giving 48km/h

When I checked for the other options in GPSResultsv6, looks to me the most relevant result is 20 secs best

Tried most settings, Data recording is 1 secs, also tried also all combinations of satellites. Turned on / off 3D distance - elevation settings also.

Any help?

Thx.

am not taking conclusions here Slight smile

    • only provide a base for you to check further
    • no really, the last post shows two exactly the same data records
    • where the Garmin Connect export to GPX causes other platforms to calculate other speed values
    • is it correct, I do not know
    • even reimporting the gpx created with FFRT back in FFRT shows the max 60km/h Slight smile

removed one of those data records and shifted time by one second from your Fenix6 fit file with FFRT

    exported this in gpx format

imported the gpx again in FFRT

  • Decided to take a ride with my car, with a speed limit of 90-91 km/h by cruise control. We all know that cars usually display higher speed values (3 to 5 km/h) to prevent you from getting speed limit penalty. What I've found out that watch & connect was displaying max speed as 84.4 km/h while exported GPX file max speed var 88.3. Therefore the results in GPX file is correct.

From this, I can assume this is just a app or firmware issue rather than a hardware issue. I'll wait for an update then.

    Thanks for your comments..
