GPS Data and built in max speed widget is irrelevant

I'm using my fenix6 while windsurfing to record my sessions, since there are no windsurf specific built in app, had to create my own with built in ones by copying from OTHER template. No problems on recorded data so far afaik but when I export my gpx to my desktop and examine with GPSResultsv6, I see VERY different results in GPS data than I saw on watch + Garmin Connect. Also validated data in gps-speedsurfing. Attached the gpx file..

Here are the screen shots..

Built in Max speed widget is giving 48km/h

When I checked for the other options in GPSResultsv6, looks to me the most relevant result is 20 secs best

Tried most settings, Data recording is 1 secs, also tried also all combinations of satellites. Turned on / off 3D distance - elevation settings also.

Any help?

so, the other thread is showing there are differences between uploaded fit file and exported gpx file

same as with your export to gpx

when you do have samples from these two, please do show them as comparison

did you try creating a gpx on that other site and use this gpx as comparison

now you compare with uploaded fit and downloaded gpx

Yes, both to GPSResults and to site you mentioned. Said fit file is invalid.

I tried the one recorded by vivoactive3 and it's perfectly fine.

Meaning data recording problem exists in fenix 6. Hope this gets fixed since this watch is useless for me without a proper gps recording..

The other one is recorded using vivoactive3, a different session, next day (5047832418.zip)

The sky was clear, it's just open sea, nothing can block the gps signal. (Tried GPS only & GPS + Glonass also)

Firmware :9, GPS : 4.40, sensor Hub : 5.07, CPE : Current

Couldn't figure out if I should give it back or wait for an update. I'll prefer waiting for an update if it can be fixed. I think problem is sony chipset since had similar problems with stratos3 and gave it back..

hi,

imported the fenix fit and gpx file in FFRT

with the gpx all speed values need to be calculated with import !
also with your Fenix6 gpx it shows there are gaps in the recording

Fenix6 FIT import with FFRT

check with GPX import (gaps)

Fenix6 GarminConnect GPX import with FFRT (recalculated speed smooth factor 2)

one gap as example in your Fenix6 gpx file

Vivoactive3 FIT import with FFRT (no gaps)

exported the two fit files into gpx format with FFRT

Thanks for your deep analysis..

So from this, you're saying results interpreted from fit file by watch are correct but the actual fit file content have lots of invalid data therefore gpx export is incorrect if I didnot misunderstand.

If that's the case, do you think this is fixable by a software / firmware update? Because I have at least 5 sessions and all of them are corrupted like this..
