The GPS tracking in OWS has definitely changed since last year. I have done three Swimruns this year, and all of them show GPS tracking like GPS is optimized for running, when doing swiming. The straight lines when doing swimming last year is now jagged and seem to loose GPS from time to time. Reported it to Garmin. Anyone else seen this? I am on GPS 4.31.
Learned something new today. Open water swim as a stand alone activity does not use the same GPS algorithm as if used as an activity in Swimrun mode. Stand alone OWS-mode tracking is in straight lines and OWS in Swimrun, jagged as if swimming in runmode. This feels really strange...
There is possibly something happening between the two activities but maybe not as bad as you suggest...either that or I do swam poorly. This is from Friday past. I have had days where it’s been much worse but then sorted the next day. This is a 2000m buoyed course. Certainly worth bringing this to GARMIN’s attention directly though. I do recall losing one of my swims from a swimrun set I did earlier in the year.

Now we know its different. At least it is drawn different on map.
I checked the data from OWS and OWS_Swimrun, and both show data recorded every second. But in the OWS_Swimrun fit-file, there are 5-10 sec gaps in the GPS position data. It tends to loose connection a lot easier, something I dont see in the OWS data...
