Hi!
Got my new Fenix 6 sapphire today but it wont connect to my phone or computer, also tested my girlfriends Iphone but no luck there either.
On my phone its starts to connecting with Garmin connect and I enter the 6-digit code but shortly after it fails.
I plugged it to my computer and though I maybe need to update the firmware but there is says the it cant connect to the servers.
I have restarted both my phone and garmin, factory reset my fenix, cleared cache on my samsung s10e and everything I found on Internet, it wont work.
Hope anyone can understand this English and could help.

  • Hello Former Member,

In your use case, it may be a toy. In other use cases, it can be essential. For example, a trail runner can get lost without a proper navigation. Without a watch, ones may have to quit the event.

In my opinion, a tv set analogy is a bit misleading. The problem is on the server-side. You better compare it to a failure of a broadcasting station instead of a tv set.

And the last one, I think 20 affected people is quite an underestimate. You may want to check the number of unique authors in this thread but I am quite certain it is many more than 20. I got an e-mail nearly every 10mins after my thread subscription. Additionally, I am a silent follower. This is the first time I post here because I already sent a message via the support web site. I think there are a lot of silent followers like me.

In conclusion, I agree with you when it is an individual watch problem that a 5x8 operating hour is sufficient. However, this is likely a server-side issue which seriously affects quite a number of on-boarding users. It deserves a better attention from Garmin.

  • Hi all,

I purchased my F6 Sapphire this saturday and suffer the same problem... Just want to post an entry here so Garmin knows that we are quite a few customers that are affected.

I am starting to question the QA-process at Garmin a bit since this seems only affect the F6 sapphire/pro? If I did not misunderstood some earlier post here it works fine for F6X which seem a bit strange if it is a server issue. Also, since this is a "outdoor/recreation device" I feel that Garmin should avoid deploy on fridays since this product is most active/valuable on weekends.

However, I kind of really like Fenix-devices and looking forward to more customer feedback and information from Garmin.

Echo that! Updated my new F6 Sapphire manually from 3.00 to the 5.77 Beta succesfully, but still not able to connect on the smartphone (Note 10+) or Windows. Can't wait for an update from Chris at Garmin to have it working asap.

For example, to add emergency phone numbers, this can only be done by using gconnect.

The watch itself isn't independent from the mobile or cloud.

The only way now to examine .fit files is to use Golden Cheetah or something like it.

Not sure what is mentioned about the web services in the license agreement... That's the whole point!

Guys, I think this is not a minor problem, since the connectivity with smartphones/pc is an important part of what Garmin offers, and Fenix6 is one of the top line of their products, so for sure Garmin will face and solve the problem, (hopefully) quickly. Said that, I would be really appreciated a sort of official communication from Garmin with some update and estimated time about the issue, just to not drive crazy all of those users that are spending time and effort in figuring out what is going on.

Hi, I have just called Garmin in Spain. They told me that the issue is with GC application and also with their servers, and as soon as possible they will fix it. But they don´t know how many time the issue will continue. The issue is with only the Fenix 6 series. They expect to launch an update of the app and solve the problem. That told me the Garmin agent in Spain

Would have been very helpful to have found this out prior to wasting hours over the weekend, reinstalling, rebooting etc... DOH! Was about to return my Fenix 6 Sapphire as faulty.

Do we have any idea or updates on lead time for a fix? Will this require all APP, Connect, Express updates?

    Hi,

One question regarding same issue. As probably most of us I factory resetted my watch so all data is gone. But I see all my data in my account when I sign in. When this issue will be solved and I will sync my watch with that account will that data be deleted from account or I just won't be able to see it in the watch?

I don't want to depress those poor brand new owners of Fenix 6 watches who are struggling to make even a first connection with Garmin Connect, but I've had mine since Christmas, and it worked fine until a week ago or so. Now it quietly disconnects after a few minutes. It can be made to reconnect, not by doing anything in Garmin Connect, simply by deleting and repairing in Bluetooth settings (on my Samsung S8+). GC realises the watch is connected and syncs immediately...but then quietly disconnects again after a few minutes. I did report this problem on another thread, but it was closed down (presumably by Garmin) as "the same problem as this thread". Doesn't seem very likely to me, but then, hey, what do customer's know, eh Garmin?!

I hope they solve it early. On friday I could activate perfectly my Fenix 6 pro-Ti, yesterday I did the mistake of restoring it and I had the surprise of the failing pairing with my iphone.
