Hi!
Got my new Fenix 6 sapphire today but it wont connect to my phone or computer, also tested my girlfriends Iphone but no luck there either.
On my phone its starts to connecting with Garmin connect and I enter the 6-digit code but shortly after it fails.
I plugged it to my computer and though I maybe need to update the firmware but there is says the it cant connect to the servers.
I have restarted both my phone and garmin, factory reset my fenix, cleared cache on my samsung s10e and everything I found on Internet, it wont work.
Hope anyone can understand this English and could help.

As a software developer/designer myself: they've got a serious design issue of these things can happen...

Is the issue just with trying to pair the watch with the phone / computer app anew or would this affect older watches that are already connected, say for example if I want to update the firmware?

You should be fine to update the firmware if your F6 is already paired. However I did a total reset of the watch and removed it from Connect in attempt to solve a music issue. Now I can’t pair. So it’s not just new watches.

    Same as me

  • While I see Garmin acknowledging the problem later in this discussion, the symptoms are the same as I've had in past on multiple devices.

Almost always, the solution is to plug into Garmin Connect and attempt to pair/run updates through that. It's like the out of box device doesn't have new enough software to make a proper connection. Sometimes switching my internet source was enough to kickstart things. (going from cellular to WiFi home internet, for example)

Also: make sure you have no form of VPN, piHole, adblocking, whatever - those seem to be fine once you're paired but often interfere with pairing and update.

Those are definitely not working for these problems. Garmin has admitted it’s on their side of things.

I ended up returning by F6 and picked up a F6X.  No problems connecting it to Bluetooth or Connect.  Go figure!
