Watch strap causing rash

I’ve upgraded from a Fenix 3 to a fenix6 pro and underneath the strap loops I get a burning sensation and have developed blisters. I’ve worn the fenix3 for 2 years with no issue, has anyone else had the same experience?

  • You're in the minority but it has happened. Suggest contacting Garmin support to make sure they are aware.

  • I have the same issue. I needed to switch arm wrist for two weeks to be healed.

  • I had the same with the 5+. Cleaning the silicon strap after an activity and using the leather strap during day time prevented the rash in my case.

Thanks I’ve contacted Garmin but they aren’t aware of any problems. It just seemed strange that I’ve worn the Fenix 3 for 2 years without issue. Ordered a leather strap, hopefully this will resolve the problem

  • I have it happen once in awhile. It's usually a question of moisture / salt being trapped underneath my band and pinching the skin for a period of time after a run, especially if I'm wearing it tight. It's good to remove the watch once in awhile, give it a good cleaning and dry it. Same for your wrist.

  • Main reason why I have switched to titanium on all my Garmin... I have had rash too.

  • same issue here. only had it a few days.  are the ebay bands any better?

Don't think Titanium is going to fix the issue. I currently have a rash on my left wrist, where the watch back touches my skin  (see pic, currently day 3 of not wearing the watch on that wrist). In my case, this therefore has nothing to do with the strap. This started with my Garmin Marq (titanium back) and has now carried on with the Fenix 6 X Pro Solar Titanium. It takes approx 3-5 days to heal each time. I'm not sure if this is from the titanium back or the optical HR (maybe the Marq/ 6 series is running higher power to the sensor?). I've never had this on any of my prior Fenix models and I haven't changed how I wear them. I wear them 24/7. I remove the watch and clean it with soap and water everyday before putting it on charge whilst I shower. I then put it back on again post shower. This obviously occurs post workout as well. It never happens where the strap goes (silicone, leather or titanium bracelet), only the watch back.

  • Call Guinness if Titanium is the culprit!  Wink

You would be the very first human having allergy to titanium as it is known in surgery and prosthesis for its neutral properties.

You can Google it if you need proof.

Dont you think it is something else?

  • I've experienced the same at the start. I think you need to break in the strap and for skin to adjust to the new band. It no longer occurs to me, now a month and a half in. Also, $15 straps off amazon seem to be better quality in some sense, at least from irritation stand point (I mention as I also use one on the side (red))
