Any experience with Polar OH1 on the Garmin Fenix 6? I don't like chest straps and thought this would be a good alternative. Does it pair easily and are all measurement parameters correctly transferred to Fenix and Garmin Connect.
Thank you.

The optical HR sensors are less reactive than chest strap. When your HR rise quicly, it gives the good value but few seconds after the strap. But this is not specific to oh1, all the optical sensors are…
I use the OH1 on my slow runs and it works very well connected using ANT+ to the Fenix 6 while at the same time connected to my Apple Watch. When I do my high intensity intervals reaching above 90% HRmax…
Used it many times and never had an issues connecting with ANT, never tried BT connection.
Values seem fine in a expected ranges and no timeouts or missing data
Have it and absolutely love it. I find accuracy dead on and very comfortable. DC Rainmaker says it's his favorite arm strap.
Could you conceivably do this with the OH1 and get body battery readings for half the day with just the Fenix 6 in your pocket if you wanted to wear a different watch for the day?
I am an oh1 fan. Very confortable, enough accurate and reliable for all running activities except broken session, interval training where it is less efficient than a chest strap. No problem with high values, this morning I did a short trail race in red zone all the time and it records 160 bpm average and 171 max, which is perfectly normal and correct for the intensity of this run and my age of 52.
except broken session, interval training where it is less efficient than a chest strap. No
Hello, can you elaborate on this? Any imperical assumptions as to why?
I might have it too tight on my fluffy skin, as both the sensor and strap leave edge impression on my skin for hours/half day. BUT doesnt seem to cut circulation or be uncomfortable. Just a lingering reminder when its on that its on the arm lol. This being said, it doesnt slide or move at all if i throw fast or hard punches in the air. To be seen if on contact (ie ground) for HIIT trainning. Thoughts? Placement is 1inch and half above elbow (allowing to curl comfortably with it out of the way)

Ah i see what you mean now. Thanks for clarifying. That's completely acceptable. I do activities that put strain on the heart for minutes on end, so i will see it reflected. A few seconds behind, 1-3 , heck even 10, is quite fine for instance for sprints, in my eyes.
I'm looking at this strap, but wondering if it works like a chest strap when connecting before a workout.
When I use chest strap, added on my F6X, I just put it on and it connect automatically, no pressing anything.
Is it same with Polar oh1?
Yes it works exactly like that, I have mine connected using Ant+ turn on and go.
Is it same with Polar oh1?
Yes sir. As soon as you select an activity the watch will start to search for any paired sensors. When I use my treadmill at home it will even even connect to my Wahoo Kickr initially but it will only maintain a connection to the relevant ones when you start
I’ve just connected my OH1 to my Fenix 6 using the disable WHR function. The Polar OH1 has always been really good for me and more accurately recorded fluctuations of HR BPM when doing HIIT etc than my previous Fitbit. Sometimes I can’t wear the watch, BJJ and striking for example and the oh1 is perfect as a chest strap wouldn’t be ideal for rolling but the inside arm is barely noticeable
