Any experience with Polar OH1 on the Garmin Fenix 6? I don't like chest straps and thought this would be a good alternative. Does it pair easily and are all measurement parameters correctly transferred to Fenix and Garmin Connect.
Thank you.

The optical HR sensors are less reactive than chest strap. When your HR rise quicly, it gives the good value but few seconds after the strap. But this is not specific to oh1, all the optical sensors are…
I use the OH1 on my slow runs and it works very well connected using ANT+ to the Fenix 6 while at the same time connected to my Apple Watch. When I do my high intensity intervals reaching above 90% HRmax…
Used it many times and never had an issues connecting with ANT, never tried BT connection.
Values seem fine in a expected ranges and no timeouts or missing data

Awesome. Thank you!
I use the OH1 on my slow runs and it works very well connected using ANT+ to the Fenix 6 while at the same time connected to my Apple Watch. When I do my high intensity intervals reaching above 90% HRmax the precision is unfortunately not really there, so I use the Polar H10 for those sessions, also connected with ANT+. The H10 is pretty cool since I can connect it both to my Apple Watch, my iPhone and the Fenix 6 simultaneously, it supports 2 active bluetooth and 1 active ANT connection in parallel.
Is there a possibility to use Suunto Bluetooth Smart HR strap with Fenix 6 Pro?
I've been using OH1+ since early June (first with 945, now with f6S pro) and never been happier. It has not let me down even once. It's great for running, strength training, cycling and xc-skiing. I haven't experienced the problems mentioned at high HR values, so I can highly recommend it over any chest strap or other optical sensor (like Scosche Rhythm 24 that I've used in the past).
I've used OH1+ both in ANT+ and Bluetooth modes (but have sicked with Bluetooth since I had some HR reading dropouts from time to time with 945). Garmin records HR values very well and calculates all the training loads accordingly. I don't know what other stats you're looking for... If run dynamics, then there is not going to be this data, but it's quite useless in my opinion so I don't miss it :)
How does it work with all day readings via widget on fenix 6, outside of activity?
How does it work within activity? Does it provide live data to fenix 6, or after the activity?

I don't believe any external HRM works unless an activity is started. Is this wrong?
Have not used it outside activity, but within activity it works just like Garmin HR strap. I.e., it provides live data and I don't believe that you can download data afterwards even if OH1 is launched in the recording mode.

Correct. I think there might be workarounds but since I lost my OH1 I've not bothered pursuing the issue.
if you switch off the WHR and add the OH1 to the sensors, you can use the HR widget to display the HR given from the OH1 as live data as longs as the widget is open. So runs without started activity profile. But of course that's not 24/7
