Do you think that right now it's wise to purchase a Fenix 6, wait or stay with a previous model?

  • Why do you say that?

if the majority of users vote:

    1. get it right now, it means that the issues they are facing are minor and are excited with the product.
    2. Upgrade in a few months are the users that own it or other users that they love the new features but wait till situation gets better with the issues.
    3. Stick with the previous generations are users that they are not excited with what they read and the new features, waiting for a more stable product or with bigger leap in features.

  • I would wait. I've been raising issues almost every day. I wear it all the time, so I play with it often. I've almost watched everything on YouTube about it lol .a bit obsessive. I work in a QA environment, so i need to try everything lol. So far disappointing. When you sell something for such a high price, you expect it to work well, and better than previous models.

My baseline is vivoactive hr, Fenix 3hr, and polar h7 strap.

Do not buy now. Buy it in 6 months. You will likely hit a sale or discount anyway.

  • Why do you say that?

I say that because for me the answers (or the weighting between them) is just for fun, they don't really tell us something useful. We don't know why someone answers "Wait 3-4 Months for issues to be resolved (S/W & H/W)" or "Get It Now" unless we have context for the answer. That can either be provided as a free text (as some of us have) or it can be created by setting the context together with the question. If I would have been one the those thinking about buying a F6 and looking at the results of the vote I would want a answer to why someone says wait or buy now. This is my point of view :-)

  • This is the first stage of research...Once the result exists...You may dig into further investigation, researching for those who answered (2) for example...What are the reasons behind this selection Slight smile

Have the Fenix5x with maps. I am really triying to find some useful upgrade on the Fenix 6x. I would like to have body battery, but I already have the stress widget and sleep widget and and can probably figure it out like bodybattery can in my head ha ha. The HRV on the stress widget is very useful on my fenix5x. I dont listen to Music because I train, I dont need garmin Pay, I dont ski. The oximeter would be fun but many say its not reliable, I would use it more for Health. The bigger screen could be intresting, but I dont look at the Watch so much so it aint so important. I do have problems with my pins on my Fenix 5X (rust?) difficult to charge. I Think I will wait for the next model and se what it can offer. It looks like Fenix 6x does not offer extremely better HR Readings or GPS tracking and some also think it has hardware problems? Anyway it costs almost 1000 us dollars in Sweden.

  • Vote 2.  WAIT.  It's so quirky and buggy right now.  Not worth spending 750-1k on!  I got it for the larger display, easier to read than my Apple Watch.  But lord, the problems!   And, don't reply with that BS story of "what problems, mine works fine".  There are a lot of issues.  They will get sorted out over time.

  • I just wish that the problems are S/W oriented and not H/W oriented. If they are related to H/W a lot of users will be disappointed, as they won't be really solved, they will be minimized as much as possible.

  • I think that there are two, or three, problems that users may experience that are HW related but also something that probably won't change. It is the backlight issue, GPS not meeting expectations and the "mushy" buttons.

GPS accuracy may improve but probably not dramatically, they may or may not change supplier of the backlight led but in the end the display technology is what it is. Hopefully the mushy buttons was just a miss in production that will be fixed.

For the rest I think it is SW related and hopefully will be fixed. Take the WHR as an example, the generation (3rd I think it is) of WHR used on F6 is used on many of the devices they currently have in production. If that is a hardware issue they really, really didn't do their home work (which I think they did) and will have a huge problem not only with F6.

  • What hardware problem do you have and what model? I also bought from egalaxy and I am waiting for a replacement 6x pro solar titanium with dlc coating...  They told me the expect receiving them at the beginning of November...

  • I returned the 6X Sapphire, the issue I had was the blue tint back-light. Which was your issue?
