Anyone STILL having heart rate accuracy issues with their Fenix 6?

Hi all,

Super frustrated, but I am still having issues with my Fenix 6S and heart rate accuracy even with the 4.20 software update. I'm wondering if it's just me or what the deal is? I had a 5S Plus before this and had no issues doing the same activities so I really don't think it's user error. My heart rate hardly reads over 110 during really vigorous exercise when my heart rate is closer to 160+. I have tried wearing on the inside of my wrist, tried my other wrist with no luck. It consistently reads 80-110 bpm the whole time. I wouldn't have bothered to upgrade if I knew this was going to be an issue. I know that wearing a chest strap is the most accurate, but I don't like to have to wear it for all of my work outs and my old Fenix was totally fine as well as my apple watch before that. Any suggestions?

  • Could you please advise where to look for that post?

If you look at the top of the first page of the Fenix 6 Series forum, you will see several topics stuck to the top of the list as indicated by their blue backgrounds. Look there. For example, as of this post you will see the following stickied topics:

  • Same issue in hiking and climbing mode. HR reading in cardio mode is good but you don't have the same data displayed on the  watch face. I was having the same issue with the Fenix 5 in hiking mode

  • During strength workout after 20 minutes triceps exercise it shows already 300 calories burn and heart rate is constantly around 130 which is not possible l. Please Garmin fix this finally I spent 1000$ for a watch a still it’s buggy as hell

  • I have still issues with low hr

  • very low hr cycling and extremely high hr running...+ POD not working = i cannot believe Garmin is letting us sooooooooooooooo down

Me too. I do not know what to do

  • We all have to wait for a fix. Garmin is saying here: forums.garmin.com/.../fenix-6-series---sensor-hub-beta-v2-53---fixes-stepped-elevation

"No, not yet. This 2.53 version only fixes the stepped elevation. However, we are aware of the HR issues that users are reporting, and we are working on a fix for that as well. We will provide a fix for this issue as soon as we can."

I hope, this fix will come very soon...

  • I did the above hike with Fenix 6 Sapphire with 4.20 software version (used the "Hike" exercise mode).

I was going uphill on the mountain for 30 minutes, so exchausted I barely could talk throughout the exercise, still the chart claims my HR suddenly (in middle of climbing the hill) dropped from ~150 to <100 and magically stayed there.

As I noticed this during the exercise, I even tried to press the watch hard against my skin with the other hand but it wouldn't help to jump back to the "real HR levels".

Let's hope there is a working fix in the pipeline as they indicated in the sensor hub beta v2.53 thread.. This is really annoying bug. My old Vivoactive 3 was spot on with HR every time.. I would expect no less from the Fenix line.

  • There's definitely been a regression recently as mine was fine, to the extent I'd just about given up wearing a strap. Garmin are working on it (as noted) so we'll just have to deal with it until it gets resolved. Yes it is a PITA, but it's not the end of the world.
