Fenix 6 - On Order with Clever Training UK?

Was wondering if anyone else has a Fenix 6 on order with Clever Training UK?

Their web site indicated delivery early September but we're now nearing the end of week three of the month and whilst they were happy to take payment for the watch immediately, the watch is still undelivered.

Has anyone else had better success with them?

After placing the order and experiencing the delay I Googled reviews for the business and their Trust Pilot reviews are less than stellar and it is giving me pause for thought.

My intro to them was via DC Rainmaker, who's reviews, videos and blog I really enjoy and find useful.

  • CT have a reputation of saying they will have stock and failing to deliver. You either have to wait and get the DCR discount or just buy elsewhere where there is stock.

  • Had same direction to C.Training UK from DC Rainmaker.
I had VERY positive experience with them in terms of ordering and returning (my FR 935 had charging issue - and they refunded me).

Have in mind that if you are in EU - you get 2y warranty in the shop - while Clever Training gives you 1y manufacturer's warranty.
If anything happens within that 1y - you have to send the watch back and you can get refurb unit, while in the shops they need to replace your product in the shop within 2y frame.

  • I have a very positive experience with CT UK, they just have hit and miss stock for Garmin stuff.

  • Same... Waiting patiently on Grey Pro just to be able to advantage of the heavy DCR discount. I feel OK because local brick and mortar shops in Germany don't even know about this watch yet.

  • AC Adventure in Belgium had Fenix 6 and 6X stock on the launch day.
Amazed that German retailers (or anything German) would be that lazy:)

  • They have stuff online, but nothing in the shops. I checked Saturn, MediaMarkt, Real... Nothing...

  • Wow... Still - online ordering with your retailer in EU vs ordering from UK based shop will give you 1 more extra year of warranty. And if you need replacement - still easier to show up in the shop and explore solutions than to be left to online-rep's mercy....
That said - IF Clever Training had 2y warranty in EU and their 10% DCR discount - they be my fav supplier.

  • I thought UK is "still" in the EU :-)  Did I miss anything?

  • The warranty thing is less of an issue for me.

In my experience, if a piece of tech is going to go wrong, it will do so within the first few weeks of use. After 12-months of no issues, I'd be comfortable being on my own for the next 12-months. The reason a lot of retailers can offer this extended warranty is for this very reason: if the product is initially reliable, chances are it will stay so (unless the fault is due to customer abuse AND we now what will happen with your warranty then!).

To my mind, the biggest issue with the Clever Training business model is that they state an unrealistic delivery date AND take payment for the item BUT then don't deliver the item is the time they have stipulated. IMHO, this is not the right way to deliver honest and transparent customer service.

  • To be fair, I did get in touch with them last week and they explained they are waiting on stock. They updated the info on the website, so now it says late September, so I guess it is next week :-)

I also kept an eye on Amazon, even Garmin's own website and they are all out of stock for the model I wanted.
