Two Sapphire Fenix 6 Pro’s, backlight / contrast issues

I bought two fenix 6’s today, both are the Carbon grey DLC coated with sapphire glass.

Have a look at these photos, my wife's is on the left hand side and mine the right. Her looks very yellow compared to mine which looks far crisper and sharper. Both have backlight set to 50%.

Any thoughts on if there’s a setting other than backlight that could cause this before I go back to the shop where I bought them?

lol---Hopefully this thread is dead. It's been a loooong time

  • Is there anyone still trying find a solution? Seems all are happy with their devices now, as no new „faulty“ serial number appears in this thread Smile

I am not sure what to do. I picked of my second purple tinted 6S sapphire yesterday. Don’t know if I should keep ordering new ones or wait a few months for the christmas stock to be sold. :/

Same thing with my 6 pro. I think I'll wait a month or two and get a new one

  • This model used to be available a month or so ago in the UK but now just says Winter 2019. I wonder if it is pure supply or they pulled it whist they get a bit more consistency on the screen. I have to say I've never seen any fenix with a screen like these marketing images https://buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/p/641435/pn/010-02157-14

I did this through Garmin.com.  Multiple returns.  And since they don’t acknowledge a blue low contrast screen as a defect I had to cover return costs.

became a very expensive hobby. When all was said and done I paid about $200 (in shipping fees) over for my slightly blue Fenix 6x Sapphire before I gave up/settled.

  • LOL! Best post to this thread yet!

Here's my recent finding, if interested. With the BF deals going on I ordered a 5s Fenix Plus Sapphire and the 6s Sapphire  SN: 65408XXXX (no deal) directly from Garmin. I also have the Venu coming from REI with the $100 BF promotion, but don't have it yet.

In comparison the displays between the 5s and this 6s depict exactly the same backlight colors. However the 5s is a slight bit brighter using the same backlight setting. Far better than my first purchased 6s from REI. Another issue I had with my first purchase 6s, was it wouldn't connect to the Garmin Connect App unless you uninstalled then reinstalled the app each time. Very annoying. This 6s from Garmin connects within seconds each time.

I'm not a hardcore fitness guru but do frequent the gym 3/4 days a week, ride a MTB on occasion and do big day hikes and backcountry overnight hikes about every 3 months. My biggest options I'm looking for outdoors is the ability to have quick access to trail maps, tracking, altimeter and times without having to reach for my iphone each time. Especially if it's raining.

  • Pretty sad today... After following this forum for past 3 months, I finally decide to buy a Fenix 6X Sapphire today. I had bought 5 units from diferents stores, serial numbers 400/401/402/403.... And after switching them on and watch the ugly black bluewed screens I ask for my money back...

I really can't understand how a watch like this which cost so much has so bad screen quality. I've bought a replica in china: blaze, which is the worst watch I had for 10$ and the screen is beter on the china watch...........

If Garmin decide to manufacture a watch acording to its price! PLEASE TELL US WHICH SERIAL NUMBER WE HAVE TO BUY.

I want to buy a watch for future 3 years, and this one is quite worst than any watch I ever seen: ugly screen, defective ski mode,.... 850€!!! Are you kidding? Where is the hidden camera.
