Replying to messages not possible

Hi,

I am not able to reply to messages on my F6X. On my F5X i was able to reply with the configured Texts, discard the message or even block the App. With Apps like Gmail i was even able to delete the mails from my watch.

Now with my F6X the only option is to discard the message.

Have i missed a new setting for that?

Regards,

Jörg

I think it's def a bug.At list from the way it looks from the manual.

  • I spoke to Garmin support on Facebook. They communicated my concern to the powers that be, whoever they are, who said this was a decision they made for the Fenix 6. I should note that this issue does not exist on the Fenix 5, which I owned prior. I would like to agree it's a bug and perhaps the people I spoke to didn't actually consult with the proper team, but either way, I've had my watch for months now, nothing has changed, and no one employed by Garmin appears to care--otherwise, I'd hope they'd have chimed in by now.

  • OK. I have contacted Garmin support via email again. Maybe everyone who wants to get the "old" behaviour back should also contact Garmin support. Wink

  • My major complaint is that the smartphone notification interaction on the 6 is different than any other interaction on the watch.  The default of pushing Down performs a permanent action.  No place else does this happen -- Down is normally used to scroll through information.

Not only that, but if you click Down, then it dismisses the notification on the phone! This can be really annoying if you don't happen to notice which app the notification came from you could spend a minute or more looking through email, slack, flowdock, skype, facebook, etc. to find it.

  • Agreed. The user experience of this functionality was not well-thought out at all, and I think Garmin needs to evaluate this because clearly there ARE people who are impacted by this and who are bothered enough that we're still posting in this forum for months now.

We're a small subset of all the users who likely are bothered by it. I'm sure there are others who don't want to even be bothered to register to post in the forums. Our numbers here aren't representative of the number of customers who are disturbed by this functionality oversight. I've seen complaints on other forums too.

  • Yap, I don't use it that often, so most of the times I have already forgotten that scrolling down is bad, and then I'm like "ah ***".

I have wrote to Garmin support and they wanted me to be more clear about this issue. So I did some screen shots and sent them to support.

I will post em here as well if any of you want to write to support.

  • Can you ask them if they're familiar with issue PSC-84402? That's what support told me when they said it was already documented.

Can someone resume to me please I’m about to buy a 6xpro

and correct me if am I wrong

with the fénix 6 you can’t write the answer in a WhatsApp message you can only dismiss it or send a automatic preselected message ?

you can’t answer calls in the watch but you can answer and talk in the phone?

Does anyone plays pádel or tennis? Any experience on measuring swing ? Angles ? Like tennis keeper?

  • Correct but I think you can prepopulate replies. You obviously wouldn't want to type the reply on your wrist.

Your watch is a conduit to your phone. There is no speaker or mic on the watch.

To others in this thread, looks like 9.0.0 fixed the issue I described. They moved Archive back up to the top and not to the bottom. I am happy they restored Fenix 5 functionality! Not sure why they removed it to begin with up until now though.
