Update September 25, 2024:
Our engineers have discovered a concern with incident detection remaining active, after ending an activity recording. They have released a BETA software fix, version 18.15 that…
Hello,
I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with rapid battery drain since installing Software version 18.14. Our engineers would like to investigate this concern further. Since this researching this…
I do understand the concern with battery drain. And this is something that Garmin is concerned with addressing as well. It is not a question of how many people are reporting this, but since it doesn't…

Quite simply: Garmin has not created a ticket. Obviously…
I am now experiencing battery drain for the first time after latest update
could you prove this information ?
comes directly from Garmin's Support website
The information about hard-reset (in some documents still called soft-reset) and full charge is still available in all documents that you can find on the website support.garmin.com when you search for the term "battery drain" (for example Why is My Fēnix 5 Plus Series Watch Battery Draining Quickly?, Why is My Descent G1 Series Watch Battery Draining Quickly?, How to Improve the fenix 6S and fenix 6 Battery Life,...). However, the original article was much more detailed, although I cannot locate the exact document anymore. Some of the details are still published for example here: Troubleshooting an Approach Watch that says battery low even though it is fully charged | Garmin Support
have already done this no fix for the moment...as you may see here a lof of people are having battery drain with this 18.14 so Garmnin needs to fix it.
I've chat with an official Garmin-Laurie and he told me there are reports in this matter for battery drain and laggy menu...I did own a Garmin Venu 2 plus in the past and was an issue regarding the battery drain and the support never wanted to confirm it at the point I did reported and after some period the admitted there is a battery drain software issues(and they told me that no all of them have the drain but most of the users)...I do believe that your tutorial can help sometimes not always.
And the most critical thing is on you is that you don't own the garmin gen 2 epix pro model to test on real life environment.
Like I told you I knew the steps that you posted in the tutorial, so no fix on it since there is a bug on the software.
Thanks for your info here...
Garmin-Laurie could you please add this to the next firmware fix ?
have already done this no fix for the moment...
If you did it, could you tell us how long exactly took the fist cycle of full charge - full discharge till shutdown, and how long took the second cycle? That could perhaps help understanding the issue. Did you also check for updates with Garmin Express, and disable the BT and Wi-Fi, PulseOx and CIQ apps, to exclude them as the culprits, as advised in the guide?
A good idea might be to use app/widget like "Battery Graph" to check charging and drain:
Since I charge the watch there is bigger drain vs the 17.28 firmware, on the links that you posted officially from Garmin there is no info to fully discharge the battery then charge it full, even Garmin support told me this is not ok at least 10% and after you need to charge it...the cycle of the lithium ion battery are going down wearing down when fully discharge.
I cannot understand how can you post here so much info and you are very confident that the 18.14 firmware has not battery drain, how did you test it since you don't own this product ?
My previous watch was Forerunner 965 and now I will never post there since I own a different product, I'm now saying to don't help people here on this thread or others..
Here is the proof that 18.14 was beta and battery drain was reported
quote
"
Did a soft reset yesterday on 18.14, and it seems to be slightly better, but still draining more than normal. This puts me off the excitement to be a part of the betaprogram. "
but still draining more than normal.- this is the main issue more drain the normal
I cannot understand how can you post here so much info and you are very confident that the 18.14 firmware has not battery drain, how did you test it since you don't own this product ?
I am not confident at all, I am just trying to help you to fix the problem yourself (apparently against your will). I am not telling it is certain to help, but as long as you do not try it, you will not know.
As I wrote, we see these complaints about high battery drain after every single firmware update on every watch since many years, again and again each quarter. And of course the people always blame a bug in the firmware. Although it may be true sometimes, in most cases it is not. If there is a bug in the firmware, then the problem usually affects all users, and leads to a much more massive complaints than what we see here. So those are the reason why I suggest trying to fix or localize the problem by the recommended steps, and contact the Support if it does not help.
However, you are free not to accept the friendly advices, and just wait till the problem goes away alone, or till the next firmware release in December. Or downgrading to the previous firmware version, if you are really persuaded the current version is the problem.
on the links that you posted officially from Garmin there is no info to fully discharge the battery then charge it full
Read here:
I have fully charged and discharged. Made no difference. I also did a full factory reset and still the drain. I agree not everyone is complaining, but quite a few are. This was all the way through the beta.
