Problems with HR during activity after Update firmeware 27.18

Since i made the Update to firmware 27.18 my heart rate is complely incorrect during activitys and health snapshot.

I´am sitting on the sofa and start a helth snapshot or actrivity and my heart rate is 190bpm. The next second it is crashing down to zero and then again up to 136 and so on since a have made the firmeware update. The same when i start an activity outdoor. It doesn't matter what activity I start it is aleays the same problem.

Only when using an external HRM the heart rate is correct. I cannot use my watch. I have already reinstalled the update but the problem is still the same.

Any ideas what i can do? Anybody wth the same problem? I still have guarantie.

Problems returning with firmware 27.18

So, my watch updated to 27.18 and I expected it to make no notable difference for me, since I haven't experienced the bugs it was supposed to fix.
But I did notice a difference, because at least 2 of the bugs from earlier FW returned.
1 - watch leaving sleepmode during night. My sleep hours are set to 2200-0630. And now the watch randomly leaves sleepmode in the middle of the night. And it wanted to go into sleepmode earlier this evening, at about 1830.

2 - the HRM-bug. I was out doing a steady state run, with my HRM Pro plus connected, battery status good. My HRM within the limits (126-146bpm) After about 6 minutes I get a low heart rate-warning and the watch shows 72bpm, half of what it was just a few seconds earlier. Took about 2 minutes för the heart rate to slowly rise back up to what it really was. I have wet the strap, and I have the watch active in case of strap failure, and the watch is firmly against my wrist. No tattoos in the way, and there's no problem when running with just the watch as HRM monitor.

These are two bugs that were present for me earlier, but fixed in I think it was FW25.03, and now it's back.

Anyone else also experiencing this?

27.18 Software issue, Sensors dropping and auto pausing

Epix Pro Gen 2, software 27.18.

When starting a Bike activity, everything initially works normally. Around 5 seconds after pressing Start, the activity unexpectedly pauses despite Auto Pause being disabled, and the connected sensors disconnect.

Affected sensors include:

Power meter
Shimano Di2
HR strap
CORE body temperature sensor via Connect IQ

After this happens, power and Di2 usually cannot be rediscovered by the watch. CORE also stops appearing in the Connect IQ field. The HR strap can sometimes be manually re-paired afterwards.

At the same time, my Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT V2 continues receiving power, Di2, HR and CORE normally, so the sensors themselves appear to be functioning correctly.

I have already:

Confirmed software version 27.18
Reinstalled software 27.18
Re-paired/tested sensors
Confirmed Auto Pause is disabled

The issue returned immediately on the next real bike ride. Run activities appear stable when this bike-side failure has not occurred.

Epix Pro Gen2 + HRM600

Firmware update 27.18 did NOT fix the HRM-600 DSS bug. Same session pattern confirmed: wrist HR systematically retained, HRM-600 data present in fit file, but ignored by DSS. Bug persists across firmware 23.48, 25.11, 26.09 and now 27.18.
What are you doing, Garmin, to fix the problem ?

HR Broadcast Drops After Epix 2 Update to 27.18

Hello,

Since updating my Epix 2 to software version 27.18, HR Broadcast to my Edge 1040 has become unreliable.

Before the Epix 2 update, HR Broadcast was stable and remained connected continuously. Since installing 27.18, the Edge 1040 consistently loses the HR Broadcast connection after approximately 5 minutes.

The Edge 1040 itself has not changed, and the issue appears to have started immediately after the Epix 2 was updated to 27.18. This looks like a possible regression in the HR Broadcast functionality in the new Epix firmware.

Could you please confirm whether this is a known issue with Epix 2 version 27.18 and whether a workaround or corrective update is available?

27.18 software downloaded but not installed !

Yesterday I made a manual software update check (wifi). It founded software 27.18 and dowloaded it. This new software has not been installed yet. I even tried to find some option in order to force the installation in the update menu without success! Any idea ? The software installed in my watch is 26.09 and I have never enreolled it into the beta program.

notification widget loses notifications from time to time

On my epix Pro (now v 27.18) the notification widget shows from time to time 'no notifications'. Sometimes a switch off and on let them reappear, sometimes necessary two times switch off and on.

The watch is connected with GC on an iPhone 17, iOS 26.1.1. Is that a known problem and is it related to my epix or iPhone?

Epix Pro Gen 2: Run cadence not tracked after strength workout (requires Light button reset)

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing an annoying issue with my Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 related to running cadence tracking.

The Problem: Frequently (though not 100% of the time), when I start a Run activity, the watch completely fails to detect/track cadence (0 SPM).

To restore cadence tracking, I am forced to perform a soft reset by holding down the Light button until the watch powers off. Once rebooted, if I save and start a new Run activity, cadence works perfectly with no issues.

Pattern & Trigger: This issue almost always occurs when I start a running session in the morning after having completed and saved a Strength/Gym session the previous evening. It seems like transitioning from Strength to Run mode freezes or freezes the sensor allocation in background memory.

Troubleshooting already attempted:

Heart Rate Strap: Initially thought it was an issue with my HRM chest strap. Changed the connection protocol from Bluetooth (BLE) to ANT+, and performed a full reset on the strap. No change.
Connect IQ Apps: Uninstalled all third-party Connect IQ data fields/apps previously used for strength/gym activities. The issue still persisted this morning.

Is anyone else experiencing this sensor driver lock-up between strength and running profiles? Is this a known bug in recent firmware versions?

Virtual run stuck on waiting to pair

My virtual run app has worked great for as long as I remember, but now in zwift it is stuck on the ‘ready to pair’ screen. Any suggestions? I’ll see HR coming through, zwift reports itself as connected, but the app is just sitting there. I’ve tried zwift on both iPhone and iPad, I’ve tried restarting, re-pairing.

Epix Pro (Gen 2) 47mm — persistent 4-5s UI latency on 26.09, all software causes eliminated including factory reset

Epix Pro (Gen 2) 47mm stuck with severe UI latency since installing 26.09. I have
worked through every software cause I can identify, including a full factory reset,
with device logs to back each step. Posting the evidence in case it is a known issue,
and to request a backdating package.

SYMPTOM
On the first interaction after any idle gap, the display takes 2-5 seconds to update.
After that first interaction it is smooth again until the next idle gap, then it
repeats. Worst case is pause/resume during a recorded activity: consistently 4-5
seconds before the screen changes.

The important detail: when I press a physical button, the haptic feedback fires
INSTANTLY. Only the display update is delayed. So the input event is being received
and serviced immediately - the delay is somewhere in the display update path, not in
input handling or a blocked CPU.

HISTORY
I bought this watch second-hand. Its event logs contain entries from 2023, so it is
out of warranty.

The previous owner had manually backdated it to 20.22. I found a GUPDATE.GSP
DIRECTORY (not a file) plus a "Backdating software - Read Me" file in \GARMIN\.
Because a directory occupied the path where the firmware bundle must be written,
every update attempt had been failing silently. Garmin Express showed nothing in its
UI, but its log had:

System.IO.IOException: An object exists at the given path that was not a file.
at DeviceManagement.WinMtp.MtpDeviceManager.OpenWriteAsync
at Garmin.Omt.Device.IO.DeviceIO.TransferFilesAsync

After removing that directory, 26.09 installed successfully:
Install Firmware_Firmware.006-B4313-10.26.9.0: 100.00% complete

The latency began immediately after that install.

\GARMIN\Debug\SNS_ERR.BIN keeps growing (236 bytes per record) even after a factory
reset, with Wi-Fi off and no Garmin Express session. Each record encodes part 0x10D9
(4313), sensor-hub build d73b799 version 35.10, and an error field of 0xFFFFFFFF.
All sensors read normally.

ALREADY RULED OUT (each tested individually, with log evidence)
- Corrupt component firmware - no asterisk, no 0.00 on any component in About
- Failed sensor-hub flash - Reinstall Software brought SNS_ERR.TXT to matched
"UPDT-ver35.10 / pass-ver35.10"
- Connect IQ apps - zero installed, \GARMIN\Apps\LOGS empty
- Orphaned Spotify data - 118 "Track Relink spotify:" events with an empty Music
folder; app removed, events stopped, latency unchanged
- Wireless stack - Wi-Fi off gave err_log 0 bytes for 53 minutes. This fixed the
restarts but NOT the latency
- Continuous Pulse Ox - set to Manual Check, no change
- Storage / fragmentation - 27 GB free, 34 user data files
- Filesystem corruption - CHKDSK on 08/20 19:00:38 and 08/21 10:25:22 both report
Diff:0, no lost clusters
- Post-update database rebuild - \GARMIN\SQL\temp empty
- Display wake latency - Always-On Display enabled, latency unchanged
- Map / multi-band GNSS load - reproduced on indoor profiles with no GPS and no map
data screen; CustomMaps and Courses both empty
- Battery - normal runtime, no gauge jumps, reproduced while on external charger
- Stuck staged update - RemoteSW held secure_config.gcd (006-D8508-20 v0.21, "epix
configuration file") that survived every reboot AND the factory reset, and was
re-delivered on each Express sync. Queue emptied and kept empty, latency unchanged
- Leftover junk - a .DS_Store in \GARMIN\NewFiles\ survived the factory reset;
removed, no change
- Factory reset - performed in full (Delete Data and Reset Settings). Latency
unchanged, SNS_ERR.BIN kept growing
- Outdated software - 26.09 is current stable; Reinstall Software performed

QUESTIONS / REQUESTS
1. Can I get the official backdating package (GUPDATE.GSP) for 25.11, part number
006-B4313? I have seen staff recommend 25.11 for latency reports on this platform.
25.11 is one release behind current so I lose no features I use, unlike 20.22
which the previous owner had resorted to.

2. Is "Abnormal Powerdown / RST:0x11, PMC:0x4013" a known signature, and what
subsystem does it implicate? Three byte-identical occurrences plus a fourth
unlogged restart looks like a specific fault rather than a random condition.

3. The component inventory in GarminDevice.xml lists 006-B2822-08 (gup2822.gcd) at
version 0.00. All sensors work normally, so I assume this is an unpopulated
variant slot for this SKU - can someone confirm that is expected?

4. If backdating does not resolve it, what is the flat-rate out-of-warranty service
option? The unit is past its warranty period.

Happy to provide the raw log files (err_log, SNS_ERR.BIN, EVNTLOGS, GarminDevice.xml,
Garmin Express logs) on request.

Compass issue firmware 26.09

After upgrading from fw 21.19 to 26.09 I am having issue with the degrees shown in compass. Degrees are unusable wrong. Degrees cange when watch is tilted too not only on rotation.

Restart of watch did not fix the issue.

Youtube Music Causing Crash/Restart on beta 27.15

It was mostly fixed in the stable build, only small issues with occasional freezing but in the newest beta 27.15, my first run I had to wait 1-3 min for the watch to unfreeze trying to start a podcast and then the podcast I was listening to just restarted. I switched to my music tracks and after one song the watch restarted completely.

Altimeter, barometer and HR sensors not working properly

Had a road cycling session yesterday, tracking it with the Garmin on my wrist and Wahoo Elemnt Roam V2 (Wahoo Tickr X chest strap). Here are some findings
- during the ride, didn't notice and difference on the HR readability, both sensors tracking my HR pretty good
- at a coffee stop, noticed that my Garmin recorded a lot more elevation than the track itself, while the Wahoo device recorded the altitude without issues.

Now entering the post session analysis:

You can notice the HR irregularities happened randomly during a pretty flat section of the track.

I had issues with the altimeter on the previous BETA version, but seems like the problems keep piling up, making the actual watch full of uncertainty when it comes to actual track those specific parameters.

Elevation problem

I haven't run in a while, but today I went for a 9 km run and my watch recorded a total elevation of 362m. This is completely abnormal because this exact same route normally has only about 25m of total elevation.

Is this a widespread software bug caused by the latest firmware, or is there a hardware failure with my altimeter? It's really frustrating when you can't trust your post-run data anymore.

Sleep Mode issue software version 26.09

would like to report an issue with my Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 related to Sleep Mode.

The first issue is that the touchscreen does not work while Sleep Mode is active, even though the Touch setting under Sleep Mode is turned on.

The second issue happens when I manually end Sleep Mode during the scheduled sleep period. Even after Sleep Mode has been turned off, the sleep watch face remains active instead of returning to my normal watch face. In some cases, the touchscreen also remains unresponsive until I press one of the physical buttons.

I have already checked the relevant settings and reset the watch, but the issue is still present.

Could you please confirm whether this is a known software issue and advise if there is any recommended solution or firmware fix?

Dear Garmin Support Team,

I would like to report a system stability issue regarding my epix Pro.

Recently, my watch experienced an unexpected system crash (forced shutdown/restart) precisely at midnight (00:00). Based on the data logs, health metrics such as heart rate and Body Battery completely stopped recording at that exact moment.

Following this crash and subsequent restart, several of my device settings were unexpectedly reset to their default states (for instance, the auto-update feature was turned off).

While the watch recovered after a reboot, having system crashes during midnight data processing and having user settings automatically revert is frustrating and disrupts normal usage.

Could you please investigate this issue regarding midnight processing stability and unintended setting rollbacks in future firmware updates?

Elevation problem since firmware 26.09

Since I updated my watch with firmware 26.09, I have several problems with the elevation. Indeed, now after each activities I have more D+ than expected (+10-20%). The altimeter is well calibrated and when I check the instant value during my run it seems ok too. The watch is well cleaned, no problem on that side. I tried to fully reset the watch too -> no effect. The problem seems to be located on the software and the graphs have a lot of unexpected "hit" and seems not been smoothed correctly. Have you got an idea about the avaibility of an update to correct that problem ? I see nothing about that on the actual changelog of the 27.15 beta 😞

The sleep window on my watch is set to 23-09. If I wake up before 09 and end sleep mode manually by pressing my assigned hot key, then press start to initiate an activity and press the back button the watch puts me back into sleep mode. Note that I do not even have to start the activity. Just pressing start once and just going to the activity menu is sufficient to put me back into sleep mode as long as I am within my pre-defined sleep window. There is no issue if I am outside of my sleep window (e.g. 10.00).

I also have the exact same issue with glances and some other stuff.

I am on 26.09 but had the same issue on 23.48 before I updated.

Anyone else with this or similar issues?

Turn off beeps just during breathing exercises

I often do breathing exercises when I can't sleep, but the watch beeps at me frequently which ruins the relaxation and also wakes up my wife.

Is there a way of just turning off the beeps during breathing exercises?

I'm fine with them during any other activity, just not when I need calm ;-)

26.09 several reboots since updating from 17.28

I've been using an Epix Pro for over 3 years now and had it locked down on 17.28 and I couldn't see any benefits to me from any further updates. It was stable and never crashed! Sadly Garmin Express on my PC stealth updated it behind my back a few weeks ago :(

Since updating I've have several crashes and reboots, including rebooting during a run iwhile navigating into Resume Activity, a reboot immediately saving an activity, a reboot trying to use Garmin Pay and this morning (6th August 2026) a reboot that occurred immediately when changing Daily Suggested Workout target from Heart Rate to Pace. Logs below

Activity temperature different from outdoor temperature

The temperature displayed during an activity is always much warmer than the air temperature. What is it measuring, skin temperature or something else?
